We have just spent 2 nights at this hotel. It's not perfect but it is a wonderful place to stay. Pros; Wonderful architecture to appreciate Our room was comfortably big and overlooked the atrium (Harbourview rooms were all booked) Check in and checkout was smooth and stress free Hotel staff were friendly and helpful - couldn't fault them An excellent... Loved the location, right on the wharf in Hobart, but way too expensive, bar closed at 10 pm on weeknights WTF ??, really interesting part renovation part preservation of an old jam factory. Bathroom in a box in the room was interesting, I'd stay here again but I would negotiate a better rate before hand, parking is an issue, unsecured... More

It probably isn't fair to review the service from the restaurant within the hotel review, but given we did a package I am going to have to do just that. Reason for stay, late flight arrival and transferring via Seaplane next day to Saffire. So visit one: Monday night: A little disappointed with the absence of porters due to needing... More

What makes this hotel so special is the absolute respect that has been given to this beautiful old building. Our room had a tin roof, an old red brick wall, a stone wall and rough old timber beams. Add to this luxurious fittings, well thought out design and a brilliant location. My advice is to pay the extra for a... More

First and foremost the staff were without exception excellent. Extremely friendly and polite, no request was too much at any time of day or night. Stayed in a deluxe spa room - great bath, disappointing shower. Comfortable bed and surroundings. Perfect for what I wanted/expected. Not sure it is expected to be 5* but the facilities perhaps weren't if it... More

Stayed with my mum for her birthday. We got upgraded on arrival to harbourview deluxe room, also given 2 complimentary drink vouchers to use in bar for mum's birthday with a lovely note attached. The rooms are so quiet and unique. Great location and the staff are very helpful with things to do in hobart. Special congrats to Chris the... More

My husband and I plus our two Austrian friends (who own a big hotel near Vienna), stayed at this hotel for three nights. It was booked for us by a travel company in Tasmania. The renovation of this old jam factory is amazing and the art is pretty fabulous too. However, we were given two rooms which were apparently at... More

They say you pay for location and you do. The hotel itself is right in the center of the action and you can easily forget about a car and simply stroll around comfortably. Having said that, the rooms were not up to scratch. More particularly the maintenance. Several items needed attention and the carpets could do with replacing. Bathrooms also... More

We stayed here while visiting MONA. It is certainly in keeping with an art tour. The hotel is of the restored industrial loft genre, It is very comfortable, and arty. Beautiful modern art in rooms and bars and lobby. Breakfast service could have been more attentive, otherwise staff cheery and most helpful.

This has to be the best factory-to-hotel conversion I've stayed in so far, largely because there were public areas that were warm and intimate as well as the soaring open spaces; and because the rooms themselves were so characterful. Take a stroll around - our conference room featured elaborate wooden vaulting, and photos of jam-makers at work. Check-in was simple,... More
