From the moment we arrived (which took 7 hours from Adelaide) we were bitten by the biggest flies I've ever seen. Bundled on a little train and driven to the resort, which at first looked and seemed like the brochure. However, this was to be the worst holiday of my life. We stood at reception with the 30 other weary... More

We (2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 9) went to Long Island in December 2011 with another couple who have kids the same age. The island is in a beautiful location, I recommend snorkelling over the reef on the southern side of the island away from the main beach. The accommodation was basic but suitable for a family... We stayed in here in Dec 11 during Xmas period using Spreets voucher which works out about $100 per night and still think it's bad value for money. 1- Check in and Housekeeping service Upon check in, we were told the room is not yet ready. We came back after 45m and still no room. In the end, the room... More

You need to consider what you want from your holiday before booking Long Island. The Island itself is truly beautiful. The resort sits in a sheltered bay with spectacular views across turquoise water to Day Dream Island and the Mainland. I cannot say how unfriendly the staff were. You are nothing but an inconvience to them. The staff at the... More

The resort looks nice as you approach the island by boat. But, looks can be deceiving! Remember where you are. At the Barrier Reef, you are surrounded by beautiful scenery. I thought most of the staff was friendly. Although, the customer service person at the reception desk was NOT friendly. She needs to find another job. She was obviously miserable.... More

My boyfriend and I stayed on Long Island for 4 nights over New Years. After reading the reviews I was somewhat hesitant to book Long Island, however after speaking to friends who had stayed previously and weighing up other options such as Daydream Island, we decided to give Long Island a go. With low expectations, we set out for our... More

We went on a day trip to the island on Monday 9th January 2012. We were greated by a friendly buggy driver who took us to the Resort. He told us about the island and the resort. THe first thing we noticed was very little shade. It was a hot day and we had to sit near a tree. The... More

I'm not sure what all the negative reports are about after staying at Long Island for 5 nights at the beginning of January. What a beautiful and serene place with plenty to do if that's how you want to spend your holiday. Everything from jetski's to tube rides, walking tracks, reef trips, tennis, kayaking and mini golf - you name... More
