This is the most awful hostel i've ever stayed in. Our dorm room bathroom door fell off, our toilet did not flush, the shower wouldn't turn off so it ran all night and that was just the bathroom. Based on a 1-night stay: Pros (for the backpacker): 121 Flinders Street East is a central location. Globetrotters is near Townsville's main stretch of restaurants, pubs & clubs. We stayed for one night at Globetrotters and it was a good little stopover in Townsville. Easy walk to the main drag and transport as well as being stumbling distance to heaps of pubs and clubs put it in a good place. It has a small little pool/spa which we didnt use but looked good. Pros: Good location, good check-in area and internet. Cons: Everything else. This is simply an old run-down hotel posing as a hostel. Horrible kitchen, pool, bathrooms (lotsa mold) and rooms were dirty. Be aware that the old Globetrotters location in Townsville is no longer there (constructions site) and this review is about the "new" Globetrotters location. more

run down building, dirty, scruffy - it's a wonder that there haven't been any bed bugs. won't go back. BUT: they built a new gobetrotters backpackers close to the ferry. wasn't open in july 2007 but looked very nice! more
