Rooms were very nice, even the cheaper ones out the back on the ground floor. Very nice feel to them- I was in # 3. Only criticism is the quality of the sheets, otherwise all perfect. It's under new management and they seem efficient and very good at giving advice on tours...impartial more

I love Port Douglas; it has a fabulous and safe beach with warm water, easily the best in the region (if you want big surf, do not go to the Great Barrier Reef). I wanted somewhere on Macrossan Street (which has all the restaurants, shops etc and is most attractive) but as near to the beach as I could afford.... more

Excellent location walking out the front door to the beach and close to the heart of Port Douglas. Great price, friendly welcoming staff who gave us great advice on all local attractions including restaurants, tours and reef trip. after reading lots of reviews on apartments I eventually opted for By the Sea. The ladies were friendly enough, however, even tho I saw a cleaner, not once was our apartment cleaned, hoovered or towels changed within the 5 days we stayed! We stayed for three nights and enjoyed our stay - the hotel has an excellent location. The staff were friendly and helpful. I appreciate we were staying in an apartment but I would have liked clean towels every day and the bed made.
