This place is totally over rated and definitely not a resort (by any means of the word). We stayed for 2 nights (never again) in a bed that was 2 singles pushed together and had a massive ridge in the middle- and we were on our honeymoon too. The Discovery Resort is clean and comfortable and very reasonable. The rooms are a decent size too and the pools are quite nice. It’s about ten – fifteen mins from Cairns city centre but if you walk along the seafront it’s a pleasant enough walk. I suppose it isn’t a “resort” as such and people may get mislead by that... more

There was a fancy advert about this hotel and the pictures were great. It was terrible when I stepped into the room. The room lights has to be switched on always, and there is no sunlight. If you slightly drag the window curtain then you loose all privacy. They have a travel desk, but its useless. They dont know about... more

Motel type accomodation but reasonably clean and particularly quiet air conditioning. We had continental breakfast each day which was fine as was the happy hour in the evening. It had it's own italian restaurant fronting onto the street. Good comfortable bed and very helpful staff. more

How dissappointed we were!! We stayed here some weeks ago...thinking we booked into a tropical resort, only to find we arrived at a small makeshift motel/ inn!
