As far as hostels Down Under go, this one is pretty darned good. On our second stay within a 3-wk period, we popped for a private room with 2 beds and a bath included ("ensuite"). This was a good move, as the room we'd stayed in for two nights previously was a bit of a walk to the women's loo... more

Stayed there ten nights.Convenient location, not as noisy as other backpackers.Basic room but airconditioner, fan and fridge all work fine.Bit run down in some areas, and needed some attention to cleaning in other aspects, but a lot of this has to do with the guests staying there at the time.Hence the rules and regulations.Relaxing bbq area out the back next to the pool... more

I chose this hostel because I wanted a single room at a budget price - it was a good choice. I stayed a total of 6 nights with a break in the middle and both times had a basic but comfortable room with fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and aircon, at the back overlooking the garden and pool. All the staff... more

We stayed there for a few nights and enjoyed it! Clean bathrooms, clean kitchen and nice rooms with free towels, tea, coffee and cockies. We had even a fridge in the room and the aircon was running well. The gardenarea looks nice as well. Nice pool and spa. The staff was very friendly and helpfull! They helped us with tourbookings... more

Paid $110 per night for a room that was half the size of a small room! Had to clean shower recess of mould before i could use it. No tv reception even when generously given 'rabbit ears' to rectify the problem?? Totally not like the brouchue or the internet pictures ( maybe when it was new?) sugestion to send all... more

Just a quick speal, I've had a quick month long working holiday in Darwin, came from Perth and a friend of mine came to visit for two nights and found Banyan Lodge on the internet and found it appealing due to its cheapish rates, $85 per night for a twin room with shared bathroom facilities. I didn't stay there myself... more

We stayed here for only one night but found the lady on the reception very friendly and accommodating. She missed her lunch for us when we arrived late.! Good size communal kitchen, 2 Free computers/internet access which was a godsend. Rooms are basic but comfortable with both airconditioning and a ceiling fan, very welcome in Darwins heat. . There is... more

We stayed here for a total of 8 nights, two families with teenage children. The rooms were basically clean, however the air conditioning was poor and staff not forthcoming with assistance. One of the Dads ended up dismantling the unit and cleaning it himself. Having just read the other reviews, we too found the staff appalling in service and attitude.....Verging... more

I had a very bad time at this lodge especially with the staff. They were grumpy most of the time and even lost their temper at me when i stayed behind for awhile, in the lodge after checking out. I am dissapointed by their bad temper and unfriendly service. more
