We stayed in Banyan view for 5 nights. When checking in there was a problem with our booking after lots of confusion they put us in a double with ensuite. The room looked like a primary school classroom or a posh prison cell. There was black hair all over the floor, obviously not been swept, and the table in our... More

I really liked this hostel! The location is perfect! Although it's a bit out of town, you can still walk to downtown Darwin (about 15 minutes) and it's nice and quiet!! Most other hostels seem to be right in the bar street, so this one is much better located if you want a good night of sleep! The staff is... More

Stayed here in a room to myself for one night then shared a dorm after a trip to Kakadu. As I wasn't in town to party I preferred the quieter location, but still very convenient to local bars and restaurants. Friendly staff and good laundry facilities on site. 4 Dorm rooms were quite small but lockers were useful, smallish but... More

We stayed at this place in December 2012 and again in January 2013. Nuff said! Darwin is expensive and most budget places are on the backpacker entertainment strip of Mitchell Street. Our taxi driver suggested this as a quieter alternative for older travellers and he was right. There are plenty of young people too but as it is YWCA the... More

Stayed a few days last year in this backpacker in a 4 room dorm. Rooms were clean and it has a small pool in the backyard. The backpacker is quite big and a bit impersonal. The kitchen was rather messy and a seemed a bit chaotic at times. No free wifi was offered which I think should be standard these... More

Good facilities and in a peaceful location. Had an office block feel to it, no carpets, so it was difficult to sleep with the sound of doors slamming and people walking around. Room was lovely and clean though, and the air con and fan worked really well. At the time I stayed there I found it more of a hostel... More

Look. Banyan Lodge is a hostel and we probably should review it from the right perspectives. It is a good hostel in scrotching hot Darwin - not far from the city, yet not close to the pubs. Bus stop right in front of the lodge and CBD is just a 10-15 min walk. Facilities are reasonably good. It was great... More

Let me start by saying the staff here were amazing-very friendly, they booked some tours for me, and remembered my name, no easy feat in a large hostel! However, the rooms were really barren, plain white walls, and the corridors, hallways, and bathrooms had no ac and were extremely hot. In room ac was a bit hit or miss- in... More

Initially before we arrived in Australia we contacted them to arrange staying there. The person Chloe was great, incredibly helpful. When we got there everything was fine. Our room was a bit disappointing it looked a stark white hospital room. Although they post that they won't tolerate bad behavior from the mostly younger guests; we had a uncomfortable experience with... More

I stayed at Banyan View for a few nights either side of a 3 day trip to Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks. The moment I arrived, the staff welcomed me with a friendly smile and did everything they could for me. They helped me organise and store my belongings safely in their luggage room and their safe. The rooms are... More
