Extremely disappointing 3 night family stay in april 2013. Not that cheap either, $300. Phoned to say we were arriving late from the country but still made it ten minutes before closing time. Not very welcoming, 'here's your towels, I'm going home'. No idea where anything was except our rooms. A sleepy character was apparently on for the night, looked... More

Hi Jell W Thank you for your review of Glebe Pt YHA and we are sorry that you did not have a good stay at the hostel. Your review and the issues raised in it have been discussed with the hostel manager and staff as YHA takes all feedback from guests very seriously. This is an older style hostel and... More

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Sydney, and had a private twin room. The location is only a short 15 minute train ride from downtown Sydney. Majority of the staff was very helpful and polite. The hostel was a bit dirtier than the other YHA's we stayed at while on our trip, but nothing so bad as to... More

Let me tell you up front, I'm more of a "Sheraton" sorta guy! But we were going to be in Sydney for a few days longer than planned and the alternatives were breathtakingly expensive. So my wife suggested we try staying at a hostel. She'd done it previously and said it would be fine. So, we booked three nights at... More

When I got to Glebe Yha it was the only thing available after New Years. I got there right as they were shutting down for the night. After a good nights rest I ended up walking the area. The location has amazing little coffee shops, vintage stores, markets on Saturdays and an amazing park. Also the Sydney fish markets are... More

Basically this property is very bare bones (which is fine except for the price). The location is in a quiet suburb however all pubs in the area close at midnight or earlier. This is really not the place to stay if you are looking for nightlife or meet people to head out with. If you are looking for a quiet... More

Great location offering a quieter locale and mixed crowd but with easy bus access to the city and many local shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Foreshore great for walking, running or chilling; cinema and open air swimming at Victoria Park. Vibe at hostel was laid back with only a couple of noisy night's. Good value internet access. Comfy beds, clean... More

I stayed here for the one week rate of $189 for a 4-share room. My experience has been a mixed bag overall. 1. Reception is only until 10 PM. 2. Location was both good and bad. Taking the bus is not a problem for me but I ran into a couple situations where I had to get back late at... More

We stayed in a few YHA's across Australia and although this was by no means the worst, it lacked personality and was a little too standard. The beds were ok, the kitchen was standard too, though compared to Glebe Village next door, the kitchen seemed five star! During our stay, the majority of guests were north of 50 years old,... More

For those of you not familiar with hostels, think back to your college dorm room days and it's basically the same idea. YHA's are in my experience some of the better hostels to be found. When I was traveling to Sydney and found the city to be entirely booked up for one weekend, I found myself staying at the Glebe... More

If you have no reason to go to Sydney, I'll give you one now. The Brummy Barbie on Glebe YHA Rooftop has to be one of the best I have ever sampled. The sausages were burnt to perfection, the steak was so delightfully chewy and I just couldn't get enough of the potato salad! Talk about service with a smile,... More
