The Jolly is THE place to stay in Sydney. Stayed there in 2006 and came back in 2012. Nothing has changed - everything is still perfect! You might find cheaper places in Sydney, BUT you won't meet the best and funniest people that always seem to hang out in front of the hostel. The dorms are ok, bathrooms are good... More

The entire atmosphere was great, very welcoming to newcomers. They have a large sitting area out in front where you can drink and meet people. Staff was friendly and helpful. Main complaint was our bed was stiff and full of bedbugs. The area itself was not that bad. I read a lot of reviews mentioning that this was close to... More

Great hostel in the heart of everything. It's far enough away from the city to have peace and quiet yet just seconds from Kings Cross and transport to the city if you want some noise. A short walk from circular quay, woolloomooloo bay, garden island etc it's just the place to stay if your newly arrived in Sydney, want to... More

Well what can I say It has been a long long time since I stayed at the jolly (it would not give me an option for older than june 2012) but it was my home for about 2 months while we found an apartment in Sydney there is a great atmosphere there and even though it was close to a... More

The Hostel is well located but the rooms are small, dark and at least, ours was smelling horrible (cheese or feet smell). The sheets had big oily spots o them and the whole room seemed dirty, so we opted to sleep in our sleeping bags. The staff was helpful but we've seen more enthusiastic people in other hostels. I'd recommend... More

We stayed at this hostel basically because Billabong Hostel in New Town was full! Place was really big, room was quite basic (bed, fridge and TV). The bathroom was shared between a whole floor full of people - 2 toilets and 2 showers in cubicles - quite clean but still a bit busy. The whole place was busy in fact,... More

I stayed there for 7 days. Upon arrival I was told no refund. And "that is why travellers should choose their stay carefully". I had no choice but to stay there regardless of how bad it is. I was given only 1 hour internet despite 7 days stay. I needed internet to apply for jobs. I thought that was really... More

A friend and I booked this hostel last weekend as we were struggling to find accommodation due to the music festival taking place. We had to book two nights minimum, but did not mind this. We were informed that we would be in separate 4-bed dorms but they did not specify at the time that I would be in a... More
