I stayed in this hotel several times in different types of rooms over the years . They have a few larger rooms and mostly small ones. First the positive part: 1) It is very central located, a couple of minutes to David Jones, Meyer, Pitts St (walking streets), Woolworth, Queen Victoria, Hyde Park ..., and the train station. You can... More

Spent 2 nights during April holidays. Grand dining room experience very special. Staff very helpful and made our stay most enjoyable. Ideal location. Handy to monorail and short distance to Darling Harbour and the Rocks. Will definitely stay there again.

From the outside, entrance and reception area it looked great (very hard to get suitcases up the front stairs), but when opening up our room - a slightly different story - the room was very dark, curtains only opened one way and then the light that did come in through a frosted window was not sufficient so needed lights on... I recently stayed one night here on a stopover in Sydney and I wish I had stayed at the airport instead. My room was so dusty that I sneezed all night, had dreadful hayfever and swollen eyes the next day. I discovered dirty sheets from a previous guest were rolled up on the floor, there was barely any toilet paper... More

Nice reception area and carpets in the corridors looked new. We took a queen room which was of average size with a large bathroom. The room was clean enough and the bed comfortable but it was dark and you couldn't see anything out of the window as it was frosted. The WiFi didn't work and there was a noise all... More

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel in March. I had room #808. My room is newly renovated very small but clean. There is a double bed and some basic furnitures. Bathroom is on the elevated level, so you have to ‘step up or step down in order to get in or get out the bathroom. The weak point of this... More

I chose to stay at the Castlereagh on a very regular basis for the past 15 years. Some of the rooms are small but adequate. Their Cello's Restaurant is a well maintained and impressive heritage room. The staff are most helpful and obliging. The Castlereagh is centrally situated to the CBD, Supreme Court and St James underground station. Whilst there is... More

This hotel showed up on the web as a four star when it isn't a star quality of any kind. While the front desk staff were willing to attempt to work with us they have nothing to work with. We understood the air conditioning going out due to storms, we don't understand the filthy room, the broken window, the crummy... More

In the photos it looked great. The Standard room was so depressing, cramped, no natural lighting, dreadful old bed. Hopefully the worst room but if so should have been advertised as such. We thought we were getting a reasonable price due to low demand, just a crappy room and would never have stayed there if we had not paid in... More

We had the luxury of staying in Sydney for four nights after an extensive cruise. We chose the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel and enjoyed it completely. Our room was very comfortable with a small window that looked out to the park a block away. The bathroom was a huge with a separate tub and shower. It was very quiet and we... More
