Some years ago we enjoyed dining a number of times at "Stronechrubie". Then the business was sold and we could only salivate at the memories of the exquisite dishes prepared by Robert. Recently we discovered that Christine and Robert had opened "Quickenberry" and we have just enjoyed a wonderful stay. The location is very peaceful and relaxing and the scenery... More

We have stayed here several times and keep coming back. We love the environment, the comfort and quality of the accommodation, the wonderful friendliness of our hosts: Christine & Robert, the way the facilities promote relaxation, contemplation or outdoor activities: walking, sightseeing. The quality of the food is first class and Robert is such an inspired chef. Each time we... More

We travelled through NZ for about 1 month, but Quickenberry Lodge is defenitely top 3 material for overnight stays (and having dinner). Located on the golf court Terrace Downs, it is a beautiful and quiet scenery for this cosy guesthouse. Christine made us feel very welcome and relaxed. And having to repeat what others wrote about Robert's cooking skills, we... More

Our visit began with a very warm, charming and friendly welcome from host Christine. There are only 4 rooms, but each is spacious with very elegant decor and huge, comfortable beds and lovely quality linen. Everything was spotless. The rooms overlook well-mown lawns and whilst you dine, you can watch various native birds and hares gambol in the the grass.... More

Last November we stayed 2 nights in this great guesthouse. We enjoyed every minute, because we felt welcome, the house was comfy and clean, the beds were top and Christineknows how to take care of her guests. Robert belongs, without any doubt, to the best chefs in New Zealand. The meals he prepared for us were a sensation and our... More

We have now returned to Quickenberry many times over the years. It is a really special place where guests are treated as they are visitors in a private home. If we have something special to celebrate it is the first place that comes to mind. There are several things that make it work well. There are just four rooms though... More

We were very disappointed with our one night stay, i have never written a review before but felt prompted to write this one. We were greeted with the words 'go away' evidently we had been ringing the wrong bell! Give her her due christine did apologise but we very nearly didnt stop. The complimentary coffee sachets were out of date,... More

Well this woman obviously did not like us. A vindictive and spiteful review is never a good one and tells more about the writer than about us. If she only had used the bell and not walked upstairs into our private appartement and surprised Christine in her undies! Would Elizabeth not be upset herself? We apologised. Apparently not enough. We... More

My husband and I just returned from a fantastic weekend stay at Quickenberry. It is in such close proximity to the ski fields and it was incredible coming back after a day on the slopes to a roaring fire, a good cup of tea and such warm hosts. The rooms were beautiful, immaculately clean and comfortable with underfloor heating, electric... More

My husband and I stayed at Quickenberry this past weekend and loved it! It was one of my favorite places to stay in all my travels. Robi and Christine are the sweetest hosts, it felt like we were staying with family. They're also really knowledgable on the area and very helpful. The room was spotless and the bed was so... More
