our 4th short break for 3 nights at this hotel confirms our view that it is in wonderful location , 5 min stroll to Derwentwater shore, beside Catbells, cosy intimate atmosphere, good food, super hospitality, peaceful , very clean & lovely bedrooms. It ticks all the right boxes for a really contented stay.

I really can't praise this hotel too highly. Everything during my 3-day stay was faultless - the room, the restaurant, the perfectly-paced 4-course dinner - I could go on. Great walks from the front door of this enchanting part of the Lakes. The Lilac Room was fabulous - great staff and amazing food. Well recommended for an autumnal break - stunning location. Great not to have to use the car.

This is a beautifully situated small hotel run by real "professionals". The room was , possibly, a little small, but I suppose one can always say that. The food was first rate...but no choice...I would guess that if they gave a choice there would be a Michelin star in the offing! The only gripe was the price..it is expensive.
