We arrived at El Panchan after dark, traveling by bus from Merida; we had made reservations in advance, against posts saying that reservations would be unnecessary, they are necessary at least the time of year we were traveling. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. The owners are accommodating and very knowledgeable of the area. Be aware that the... more

i stayed at margarita and ed's during a visit to the palenque ruins last month. it's a bit confusing as you arrive at el panchan, since there are a few different hotels and the path isn't marked very well. we showed up at reception without any reservations, but it wasn't an issue- the guy showed us to a clean cabana... more

Clean, comfortable, great place to stay and experience Palenque. Stayed at Ed & Margarita's for 260 pesos per night. Ate great food at Don Mucho's while listening to live music. Met new friends from all over the world. more

The rooms were cheap and had hot water, the location was fantastic (just outside the park), and the staff was helpful. The people there helped to arrange our travels to Palenque and a tour of nearby waterfalls, which was nice. There was even a computer lab with internet access for my friend who had some work to do. All in... more

We stayed in a great cabana just a few miles from Palenque. El Panchan consists of 3 or 4 groups of cabana's, we stayed in El jaguar. The cabana itself was really clean and had a great bathroom with plenty of hot water (warning very hot water!! turn on the cold tap first). It was set in the jungle and... more

Our booking was made through the tour group we were travelling with and we didn't know the name of the hotel prior to our arrival so I had no chance to research the property - not that research would have helped on this occasion as other reviews on Trip Advisor and information in the backpackers Lonely Planet rate this hotel... more

I spent a night and Ed and Margaritas last night and it was a pretty good place. They charged me $200 pesos per night. Room is pretty good and it was pretty quiet although Im sure it depends on what part of the complex you are in. Id recommend it. more

We went to Palenque and decided to stay at the El Panchan resort (which is not such a resort you might know from beaches). It has three restaurants (the fourth one, a vegetarian place is closed unfortunately) and two or three different places to stay. Margarita&Ed are offering cabanas and private rooms, we stayed in one of the private rooms.... more

Just returned from a magical week in Chiapas. My son and I spent 3 nights at El Panchan and really enjoyed the vibe. We stayed at Magarita y Ed's and loved it. It was quite hot and we were looking for a room with AC and found one for $35/night. In the morning we'd open the windows and listen to... more

El Panchan, as their website explains, "Was founded in the early eighties by Don Moisés Morales...Moises transformed fourteen acres of land into a place where you can enjoy the wonders of tropical rainforest." El Panchan revolves around a cluster of small communities built to surround two open-air restaurants. These various communities offer a range of accommodation styles, all within the... more
