The ironically named jungle "palace" is a collection of dirty, insecure huts on a floodplain. The staff were rude and unfriendly, and for the majority of our stay there was no water in the showers / taps, or electricity. In fact, we were charged more one day so that the electrician could be paid! Our experience here was particularly unfortunate... More

Lonely Planet raves about the jungle experience near to the Palenque park. I disagree. Once it might have been a hip place, but now it is just a very run-down collection of cabanas. There is obviously very little being invested into upkeep of the whole place (it is a collection of 6-7 properties of 20+ cabanas each). It is dirt... More

The cabanas are simple but ok for the price. We love the screens/mosquito nets that the room had as walls. The music from the restaurants around was very loud until very late (around 5 am) the 2 nights we stayed there and wasn't very nice at all.

The first room the owner showed me was really gross. I asked to see another and wound up with a lovely cabana next to a bubbling brook. Security was not great--the walls were made of screens. However, it was really delightful to wake up to the sound of the brook in the morning. Shared bathrooms could have been a bit... More

We ended up staying in the "Platano" room at this place for the day only because I was suffering from food poisoning and Margarita & Ed Cabañas wouldn't let us extend the room we had there, (read the details for that incident at our Margarita & Ed Cabañas review). Although we paid for the full night at Jungle Palace, we... More

We camped here (60 pesos) and loved the experience. The bathroom amenities were fine. The howler monkeys sounded like they were in our tent at times!!! Lovely setting with the cabins mostly overlooking a small stream. Friendly enough staff. We organised a day trip to Misol Ha and Agua Azul with them. Definitely recommended. Quiet for the most part. At first, I wasn´t exactly thrilled about this place, but actually it turned out to be very nice stay. The price is cheap - we payed 100 pesos per night for cabana with shared bathroom. The room was basic with one big bed and one small one, chair and fan. The mosquitonets at our room windows didn't have holes, as... More

We thought we were in for a treat... Nice cabanas in the midst of the jungle, not far from the Palenque Maya site. What could go wrong? We were looking forward to falling asleep with the sounds of the jungle: birds, monkeys,... Not! The nearby restaurant played music until one in the morning. Drunken people made a lot of noice... My sweet little cabaña was located by the river, backdoors and a little platform above the river with crystalclear water. The screams of the howlermonkeys and see them pass above you in the trees makes you realise you are in the middle of the jungle. The place was clean, fresh sheets, clean toilets and showers with hot water, friendly personnel.... More
