I wanted to write a review because we had such a wonderful visit but realized that others had done a great job describing this incredible place. Our 10 year old grandson wanted to see Hyacinth Macaws and we did! They are so beautiful and it still brings tears to my eyes to think of them. But the macaws were just... More

We stayed with Lucas and Marina for a week in August as part of a larger tour in brazil. It wasn't only the highlight of this holiday but is probably one of the best places we have stayed. It's not so much a game-lodge in the African style as a house-party. It's small - only 4 rooms - which means... More

My partner and I have just got back from a 5 night visit to the lodge, which was definitely the best part of our holiday in Brazil. The hosts and guides were very friendly and knowledgeable making us feel totally at home and making each trip out from the lodge a unique experience. We saw lots of wildlife, including being... More

We visited this lodge during trip to Brasil in 2007 and still it is one of most memorable spots in world I've ever been and cerainly will go back there some day. Location of place is unbeatable if you are seeking for pure nature, far away from civilisation and still having good comfort level. Owners and guides/workers are wonderful and... More

I went there with my husband last year, in September for only 3 nights and I am already planning to return. We took the 4x4 to get there and it was a nice ride, even though it was long. The place is stunning. We went fishing, canoeing and horse riding and - the highlight of our stay - had a... More

We stayed 5 nights with our sons aged 8 and 9 years old. It was a wonderful experience. The farm is huge (15000 hectares) and the owners keep it as naturally as possible. Because of its location next to the Rio Negro, the biodiversity is stunning; we saw giant otters almost daily(with cubs taking their first swimming lessons), giant anteaters... More

We stayed here as part of our 2 month round-the-world honeymoon, and this was one of our absolute highlights. When we are asked by friends to name just one experience out of the many we had over the course of those 9 weeks, we both say 'Barranco Alto'. We chose to arrive by land (a 6 hour drive in a... More

This place is in the middle of nothing but provides everything. The owners provides a very personal feeling to this place, taking the time to guide their visitors, eating with them at the meals. A very relaxing experience, wonderful rooms and a superb wildlife makes this place extraordinary. A couple of hints: * Our room had the toilet accessible only... More

My wife and I spent a week at Barranco Alto and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We have stayed in some remote lodges in Africa and this was every bit as good, but rather different. I had high expectations before arriving because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and our agent's comments; that these were surpassed says it all. We... More
