Very happy and enjoyed our stay!! The room was spacious, cleanliness great, no complaints with the cleanliness what so ever. Toiletries were provided which was great for us, lots of coffee, tea and hot chocolate options on the tea tray. Really liked the TV and it was great to watch from the view of the bed. Reasons not 5 star: Would have liked a light around the dressing mirror as quite dark Room slightly dated

Arrived @ 1pm on a cold day -3C. No heating on in room, luckily there was a plug in heater in the wardrobe for use which took a while to warm the room. Central heating system did come on at 6pm. We thought window was open due to treffic noise from outside, but no, the noise was as a result of a gap to the surounds 0.5cms at the top of the window. Furniture tired and chipped, carpet thread bare. Only 4 sockets in room two for bedside lights 1 of which didnt work due to a faulty extension lead. That afternoon and evening was a very well attended 19th birthday party in the bar with a "Disco" so noisy it could be heard in the accomodation. Numerous almost feral children running through all parts of the hotel, playing on the staircase shouting and screaming leaving half eaten food spread over the floor, totally unsupervised by their parents. Evening meal in the restaurant above the bar was an absolute farce, the room was cold few of the radiators were working. The special's menu advertised wasn't available and hadn't been on the previous day either. Food was basic "Pub Grub" and not great. The noise from the disco was so loud it made the floor, table and cutlery vibrate, we did ask if the volume could be turned down as did other diners without any change in the level of noise, you couldn't hold a conversation and enjoying the food was impossible. We didn't bother with desert due to the noise. Breakfast the following morning is advertised from 8am we were in the bar area from 8.05 where breakfast is served, despite informing the waitress that we knew what we wanted to eat when we arrived, we had to wait till 8.30 before our order was taken. The cooked English was delivered at 8.55. some 50 minutes after we sat down. There were only two other tables occupied on arrival, with a total of 6 people seated before us. So the kitchen couldn't have been busy!. It apears as if the kitchen was open from 8am but cooking didnt start until 8.30, so not good if you need to be at an appointment for a certain time. Even when this was mentioned it made no difference! Going elsewhere for next December! …

Was warmly welcomed on arrival and was given the key to our room, asked if we would be eating etc and advised us of the times the kitchen was open. Once in the room I was pleasantly surprised by the size of accommodation, although the bathroom was looking a bit tired. However it all changed when we had to have a short memorial service for the 3 dead wasps on the window sill, it looked as if they had demised due to lack of food, perhaps a word with housekeeping would ensure these kind of traumatic scenes would be avoided. We did eat later and although the food was at best average it was tasty although I think my pie had been pinged as I’m sure I could’ve melted lead on it. However, breakfast was in a whole new ball park, very tasty indeed with generous portions and served piping hot and fresh, highly recommended !! All staff that we met were pleasant, however I wouldn’t consider the hotel a 4*, and a tad expensive, but on the whole not a bad stay…

Food very average and very overpriced. Staff very polite and helpful. Paid over 50 pounds for three very small main meals. How can you serve seasonal vegetables and only place two carrots on the plate!! Decor quite tired but clean.

The hotel was extremely friendly, the room was very comfortable and, the food was extremely good. It was so nice welcoming with not only the staff but also the locals. It was difficult booking with "Booking.com" but, the staff were able to rectify the issue. Would suggest if you have any issues if you contact the hotel who are very happy to help.

We stayed here on Saturday evening for one night, stopping in room 1 with y husband and our labradoodle. The room was very spacious, clean, comfy beds, warm but dated decor. They are more than acceptable, they just need a refurb. We booked a meal in the restaurant and we were most impressed. It was very busy, I think all tables were booked out. We had the most delicious meal. My husband had the steak and I had a burger. The staff were really friendly. Maya and her colleagues really looked after us well despite being a busy evening. We had breakfast the following morning and we were most impressed with the options available. The meat was top quality and well cooked! We will visit here again as a great location and near many attractions within the Peak District

Went for an afternoon tea again as enjoyed it last time. Cant fault it. Member of staff was brilliant and attentive. Loved the afternoon tea. We always add the home made chips and makes it a filling meal. Other guests food looks nice so booked to go for a meal later in the week. Will be back for another afternoon tea soon aswell.

Stayed here overnight on a road trip heading north to Scotland. Room was OK reasonably spacious with ample parking. Ate dinner in the restaurant and was pretty good pub food. Would stay again quiet spot in the countryside.

The room was a little tired, bedroom furniture needed replacing as it was a bit dated and a bit battered. However, the staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The dinner was pub food, done very well indeed and good value for money. The breakfast menu was surprising extensive, I had smashed avo on toast and it was lovely. The pastries at breakfast had sat too long, so we're a little firm. I would definitely stay here again . Well done
