Stayed at The Pear Tree on Friday 10th Feb for 1 night. When we arrived we were shown to Room 4, which had to be a family room as there was an additional bedroom with 2 extra beds. For just the 2 of us this seemed like heaven to have such a large bedroom and an awesome Bang & Olufsen... More

Firstly, the food, service and value for money (£25 for three courses) are all very, very good - I couldnt fault these things. However, we will not be going back - because it felt like eating in an old English gentlemans club, or a church, not a country pub. There was also no choice between a 2 or 3 course... More

Stayed at the Pear Tree last night for what was supposed to be the Valentines day special offer. When we arrived the hotel seemed to have no knowledge of our booking (someone of the same second name had checked into our room) and there was no knowledge of us having booked the valentines meal. When we questioned the valentines menu... More

Having had a lovely lunch here back in mid January with a girl friend, I decided to try dinner there with friends last weekend. The food is good, although the set menu price is mis-leading as all vegetables etc. are extra and there is a cover charge of £2 per person. One of our party asked for more butter to... More

Having failed to find any of our favourite restaurants open on a Monday in order to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, we decided to try the Pear Tree, now under the flag of Marco Pierre White. We were expecting great things, and the published samples of the lunch time two or three course menus appealed. The interior has undergone extensive... More

We saw on the web page that there was a special lunch time menu so decided having heard such good reviews to try it out. We were disappointed with the choice on the menu - expecting it to be exciting but in fact was sausages, fish pie or chicken and leek pie. I chose the fish pie and my husband... More

We took friends for a meal - our first visit. It had been given a good write up by the local press for lunches. Anyway, vegetarian choice was limited and I was highly embarrassed at the size of the shepherd's pie - it looked like a side dish. The fish and chips were good but the "three time fried" chips... We stayed for a Saturday night to allow us to visit Bath. It's location is therefore ideal. We were 'upgraded' to the family room which gave us extra space. however it was the food that was the draw. The menu was seasonal and excellently prepared; the staff were informative and subtle in their service. The bar staff and front of... More
