We're pretty adventurous and not particularly picky travelers and maybe we hit them on a bad week but we found the staff polite but singularly unhelpful. When asked about trails or local birding spots we were referred to their gift shop to buy a book or to peruse a less-than-instructive (and filthy) binder. Paper cups, paper towels, bad mainstream (non... more

The staff at Treebones Resort are courteous, polite, and helpful. The food was outstanding and Chefs Chris and Carlos do an amazing job with the menu and service. We are going back for our third visit next month! more

We were driving to Treebones in mid-october during an unusual and terrible storm. The road to Treebones is a narrow one between cliffs on one side and the sea/more cliffs on the other. It was getting dark. We phoned to see if it was advisable to press on, and were told it was fine there, rockfalls didn't happen until further... more

Is it a resort? Is it camping? These were the questions I had prior to arriving at Treebones. The answer is yes. It is whatever you want it to be. The yurts are very comfy and well built. The electric heaters, sink with running water and overhead sprinklers confirm we are not camping. The only note on the yurts is... more

I came across Treebones online while looking for a campground in Big Sur. The Nest immediatley caught my eye! Even though it is an hour drive from the 'village' I decided it would be worth it to try something new. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in October. The weather was beautiful but very, very windy. The... more

Loved our two days in Treebones. No TV, no cell phone (and I pretended that the lodge had no wi-fi), made for a truly relaxed experience. The views of the Pacific were amazing, and the yurts were clean, clean, clean. Was a little bummed at the menu for dinner which wasn't varied, and was expensive. It was fairly tasty though...... more

We spent two nights at Treebones and had quite an experience. An unseasonable storm raged whilst we were there 7 inches of rain fell in 24 hours and winds of 60 mph! Our yurt remained dry and cosy (the fire was well used) unfortuately the only thing missing was a view, when the rain eventually ceased the fog came... We... more

The following is a letter that I wrote to the owners and staff of Treebones Resort. Even with the car rental experience from hell, our week long trip to Treebones was a wonderful experience that we shall never forget. We can't wait to plan another trip to the Big Sur coast and Treebones Resort. To John, Corinne and the Staff... more

We had a great stay. The location in #9 oceanfront yurt was magical. We also found a "human nest" near the yurt which was a hoot. The people who worked there were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant served good food and again the view was fabulous. The restrooms and showers are located in the main building. This set up... more
