I loved our room. It had a fireplace and was large and set back away from the pool. I had asked for that (away from the pool) to be sure we had something quiet. I had read reviews where there were complaints of noise from the pool heater I believe. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. They gave... More

We stayed in unit 37 at the far end of the property and it was very quiet and quite comfortable. There is a wood burning fireplace in the room and the room was permeated with the smell of previous fires which would be something to consider if you are sensitive to that. The bathroom was OK, could stand to be... More

The most unwelcoming front desk 'staff'. No clue who's guest booked. We were part of a wedding entourage and the 'staff' couldn't even tell who is booked & who is not on their system. Very unhelpful, all others can be forgivable as this a Lodge style accommodation, but rude & unhelpful staff is not. I'd rather drive up another 20... More

For the ammentities, I would say our overall opinion of the Big Sur Lodge was that it was overpriced. We stayed there for one night. There is no internet, TV or alarm clocks (we knew that going in) Although we did enjoy the on-property turkeys that "gobbled" us awake. The double-queen room was more expensive than warranted for a pre-Memorial... More

My wife and I stayed at Big Sur Lodge this last weekend. We found the service at the lodge is very poor. No phone service in the room, no Internet service or Wi-Fi service either, and no TV in the room. When we got into our room the baggage rack was broken, the light outside our door wasn’t working and... More

Second leg of California college visits with high school daughter, looking for convenient place to provide a bit of local color for a night traveling between Santa Cruz and SLO. "Cabins" are really multi-unit buildings - where we stayed - but pricey ($200+ per night). Tradeoff is worth it, as you're in the middle of the park, off the road,... More

My review would be nearly identical to the one from lilly57. On our trip along the coast, my family decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The location in the woods and near the coast cannot be beat. The accommodation was large with a separate bedroom, bath, fireplace and patio. We had 3 adults and 2 small children who... More

Big Sur Lodge offers cabins in the middle of nature (Pfeiffer State Park). Basically these cabins are pretty nice, but unfortunately they could be cleaner and they are not in a really good shape (e.g. inside walls had cracks, door closed very difficult). After all the cabin was OK to spend a night, but it should really be renovated. The... More

My wife and I stayed here two nights: once going north on the Pacific Coast Highway; once coming south. The area where the lodge and restaurant are located is spectacular--among soaring redwoods that humble you just to gaze up at them. The staff was very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had at the restaurant. There's a nice... More

Booked this for one night very last minute on our way down the west coast. After reading the reviews we were pleasantly surprised to find it comfortable, spacious and very well equipped, not that basic at all. We did miss wifi and tv, but it's so good to get away from all that too. Lovely to stay in the Forest... More
