Ulagalla is an oasis in the cultrual triangle providing a very pleasant retreat from our touring, We only had one night here (wish we had time for more), however, I loved the bikes for exploring the property and further afield, watching the activity on the rice fields and the friendly staff who were so helpful. The room was very comfortable... More

The property is gorgeous in a luxuriant nature offering absolute peace of mind and tranquillity: a definite plus if you want to avoid people and get away from it all. The chalet we had for two nights was perfectly appointed, extremely clean and comfortable. The chalets are at respectable distances from the main building so one must not hesitate to... More

It is yet a great property with with friendly service. But the overall experience is getting pretty average. This was my 4th visit in 9 months, this time for the New Year holidays in April. We noticed that the quality of food which was dropping had now dropped to an all time low.Bland food, poor quality and lacking variety. On... More

Ulagalla’s website does not do real justice to this fabulous place, but it speaks the truth when saying, “discover the magic that is Ulagalla”. For me, the magic was waking up at 6, walking through the misty grounds to the reservoirs nearby and stepping into a birder’s and nature lover’s paradise. On the three mornings of our stay, I had... This is difficult, as Ulagulla is a fabulous property, but just a few things don't meet the standard they are aiming for. Certainly the food is below par, and the menu needs a complete overhaul, it is dated. The Sri Lankan food is good, but the bar-b-que dinner was a shocker. Also the vegetation around the chalets is smothered with... More

Decided to give the resort 5 stars even though the food as some reviewers here have pointed out was mediocre. It was good, but nothing great. Also the fact that you couldn't turn off the aircon (or even turn it really down) during the night was disappointing. That said we enjoyed our 3 nights we stayed in one of the... More

We could have stayed here for a month it is just lovely, peaceful and quiet. We had two nights here and just loved it. We were there for WWF Earth Hour and they had set up hundreds of tiny tea lights outside the pool area the effect was just magic. The ceremony when you arrive here is lovely; the staff... More

On the evening before our wedding day, my husband totally surprised me with a one week honeymoon trip to Sri Lanka. It was my first acquaintance with Asia and I completely fell in love with the views, the smell, the sounds and the people of this magnificent continent. Coming back to Sri Lanka was on our wishing list ever since,... More

A nice place to stay, especially if you want to relax and enjoy some days. All the nice places within the resort area such as garden, paddy fields, animals, ponds and of course the wonderful colonial style main building. We enjoyed a great stay with wonderful and helpful staff and will go back for sure!
