This hotel is in a nice setting but for £80 a night, you would expect a lot more for your money. The rooms are very basic but nice. The only TV offering (all be it on a big widescreen tv) are the 5 analogue channels, which a very fuzzy! The rooms are clean, but you can see where the hard... more

I had been told about this cracking little place but we never expected it to be so good. The staff were friendly and the real ales were perfect. Oak beams and real fires made a cosy relaxed atmosphere. The food is where we had a real treat, we shared the feathers homemade charcuterie board and it was amazing. We then... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2009. Perfect location for our family gathering in Ware. Cost £80 per night for a very basic room. A bit grubby with some disconcerting stains on the wall. Functional bathroom with a noisy electric shower. Comfortable bed. Old TV with terrestrial channels only. Needs a lick of paint in places. Nice pub... more

Stopped over at The Feathers for a night, and arrived very late. The staff phoned twice to make sure I was ok, and hadn't got lost. Manager was waiting to welcome me, offered me a nightcap, and quickly dealt with the formalities. Room was very clean, clearly recently upgraded, and comfortable. Shower especially good. Breakfast offered a wide choice -... more

Heard about the new award they'd received from Brian Turner, so had to find out for myself what all the hype was about. Welcoming old fashioned cosy public house, got seated next to the fire. Started with the homemade pate on toast which was fantastic, but the highlight of the meal was the beef, cooked just the way it should... more

Bearing in mind the cost and poor availability of alternative accommodation in the area, the Feathers is adequate - just. However, although the rooms apear to be "cleaned" regularly they are certainly not cleaned thoroughly. I stayed there on a couple of occasions and there were cobwebs everywhere. It appears that if somewhere was not easily reachable it was not... more

After reading the reviews for the Feathers Inn, I was quite anxious about our stay. I should not have been - the newly renovated accomodation is spacious and clean and a big comfy bed and great showers. The staff were helpful and friendly. Downside is the food - the meal was awful, tough steak and a very poor quantity and... more

Rabbit pie was the best thing we ate: tarrogony rabbit casserole in a 2 handled mug with pastry draped all over. Pastry was exceptional with a nice touch of cheese in it. Pot roast someone or other's 28 day mature beef with wine sauce was disappointing: "like a bog standard pub Sunday lunch." Beef very ordinary. Mrs Doddington's (they love... more

Recent upgrade to bathrooms and new beds make for a comfy stay. Even so, £70 still a bit steep for this location - they seem to be aiming to pick up overspill from nearby wedding venues. Food is bland pub fare - scallops tasted of steak from a dirty, beef & ale pie like cardboard (defrosted), veggies require oodles of... more

The Feathers is found in a beautiful little village a short stroll (3 miles) from Ware. The Inn is comfortable and clean. The room is practical and had a great shower and TV. Unfortunately the room was in need of a lick of paint but this did not spoil our stay. A full English breakfast is included in the price... more
