Arrived in mid afternoon after an exhilarating bus journey from Narvik. Very comfortable cabin in superb location surrounded by spectacular scenery. Were lucky enough to see the Aurora on both nights. Also enjoyed a very good meal in the restaurant. But beware the price of wine - £40 for the cheapest bottle!

We arrived on the late bus from Narvik after a four-hour trip and needed to find an evening meal. The cabin was warm and cosy and we took advantage of the kitchen although we also ate at their restaurant which was really good too. You can choose from several types of houses from typical fishermans lodges til villas, all well placed, equiped and clean. I stayed at the Svinoya Rorbu for 2 nights as a single traveller in February. I arrived from the ferry around 9pm, and walked to Svinoya. The streets weren't particularly well lit, and the long bridge over to the island isn't a nice walk in wind / rain and the dark, as there are narrow pavements and it's somewhat disconcerting... More

These are lovely (mostly) old buildings to stay in on the wonderful Lofoten islands. However, they are not well-located if you are visiting to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
