Stayed for two nights for an away saints football match . Just needed somewhere to sleep so had no big expectations especially as the price was really reasonable. We got a large room overlooking the sea with a twin and a double bed. Room was certainly not hotel standard but was clean and the bed was very comfortable and for... More

We were celebrating a special birthday with all the family (11 of us) John gave us a really warm welcome, a great evening meal and later in the evening we enjoyed some time at the bar and at the pool table which was a definite bonus. Breakfasts were fantastic - we didn't need much at lunchtime! The bedrooms were roomy,... More

Booked in here for a family 'do' we were having just down the road. Not really sure what the expect but Trip Advisor reports seemed fine. We had three rooms booked in all but because of the weather (Weekend blizzards) a couple couldn't make it so three rooms weren't required. No problem, the man didn't charge for the room we... More

The room is clean and beds are comfy. Room temperature is suitable and the shower is hot enough. The location is brilliant as it is along the sea shore and the scenary is beautiful. We were able to watch sun rise at around 5:45 a.m. in the morning from our room which was really amazing. John is very helpful and... More

My sister and her family stayed at the Chaise in 2006 and had a very positive experience. I was staying elsewhere at that time but had dropped in to the Chaise on a couple of occasions. So, when my wife and I and two teenage sons (16 and 13) came over for a UK vacation this month it was my... More

Brilliant location, clean and comfy rooms, excellent breakfast and friendly and welcoming host. Due to the snow at home our party was smaller than planned, but rather than still paying for the three rooms we had booked, John asked if we wanted to stay in just two rooms to keep our costs down, which I thought was very kind of... In total over 2 stays I spent about a week at the Guest House. It was a great price, breakfast was good, location good and John was extremely helpful. I was traveling from Australian, and if I ever go to north east England again I will defiantly stay at the chaise guest house again

A large group of us all stayed in The Chaise for one night for a dance competition. We found that the guest house facilities were in great condition, rooms were clean and lovely. Breakfast supplied in the morning was great - a full fry-up. Location is lovely as it is directly on the seafront with lovely views from a lot... More

I travelled to sunderland from Ireland with ny teenage son to see the tyne & wear derby match. We stayed for one night and we were very happy. The room had a beautiful view of the seaside and it helped as we were lucky with the weather. The breakfast was lovely and we had a nice history of staying at... More

We stayed in the family room for one night. The owner was very flexible with check in times The room had a superb sea view and was clean and spacious. The beds were comfy and had kettle and tea/coffee. The breakfast was lovely and the owner would cook what you wanted. Great value at 50£ for the 3 of us.... More
