This was our best B&B experience by far, although that term doesn't do it justice. We were greeted with a lovely cup of tea and carrot cake, especially welcome after a long car journey. Alison is very attentive without being pushy. Every detail for one's comfort is thought of: fluffy dressing gowns, spacious bathroom, superb breakfast, the lounge and dining... More

Beautiful cottage, wonderful host, awesome breakfast, scrumptiously comfortable bed & roaring log fire...made our one night stay truly memorable. The beautiful crisp morning and the birds tweeting only added to the wonderful charm! Thanks very much to Alison & of course Harry! More

Having thought we'd booked a straight forward B&B, we were delighted to find we had half a cottage to ourselves. Beautifully furnished, comfortable and warm, with the excellent added bonus of a roaring log fire (fuel provided). The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom well furnished. Alison is an excellent host, providing a welcoming tea tray on arrival with home... More

A lovely little cottage right in the heart of Birchover and in a great part of the Peak District. Very welcome host who cooks a superb homemade breakfast with all of the trimmings. All locally sourced. Just don't be in a rush as homemade means very relaxed on the timings. Good for a couple of couples as there are two... More

Our seventh, or is it eighth, trip to Poppy Cottage? We love going to our little hideaway in the Peak District and have been as just the two of us and also as two couples with good friends. Although the other reviews say it all, I'll say it again. Alison is a superb host, very friendly and helpful and her... More

Our second visit to Poppy Cottage and we cannot recommend it too highly! Excellent spacious accommodation, great position for exploring the Peak District, and wonderful breakfasts. Alison is the crowning glory, the perfect host, welcoming, helpful and friendly without being intrusive. She just gets it right! We will definitely be back. More

Found this little B&B by chance searching online (it's actual site is www.poppycottagebandb.co.uk with more pics) and it was a real find, we plan to come back again on our next trip. It feels quite personal with lots of books, some DVDs and even a piano in the downstairs lounge area. It's located in the small village of Birchover which... More

This cottage has room for 4 people (two double rooms), a lovely big bathroom and a cosy lounge/dining area. I stayed here with my girlfriend over a long weekend and it was a great base for our expeditions around the Peak District. We had a fantastic stay at Poppy Cottage. Alison did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable,... More
