I have stayed here 5 or 6 times now and i'm always impressed by the good service the owner, Angela offers. The rooms are basic motel style but large and comfortable. The views over flying fish cove are spectacular so its definitely worth asking for an ocean view room. The rooms on the ground floor open onto a shared verandah... More

Pretty good value, nicely kept, great views, nice pool area and a friendly welcome. Also a short walk to a nice pub with good food. If I were to find myself on CI again, I'd stay again no problem. More

I was there to have my Christmas holiday which is so unforgettable. The hotel is a very simple one and not crowded as I believe it is not popular to travel there. The hotel is clean and it actually has what you expect in a small island. The only thing annoyed me here or actually in the island is the... More

Won a prize of 5 days at Sunset. Did not know what to expect from CI, only seeing media coverage of detention centre and boat tragedy etc. What a wonderful surprise this island is!! Sunset Lodge perfect. Charming staff, room serviced daily, very quiet. Tourism staff great (tours worth going on, 4WD hire a must). We were sad to leave... More

Spent 5 nights at the Sunset hotel in an ocean view room (with private balcony) and enjoyed the most incredible dawns and sunsets enjoying the views over the sea and the breath taking peaks rising above flying fish cove. Great views of the navy / customs vessels patrolling the waters and of the sharp rocks of the coastline. Rooms have... More

The ocean view rooms at the Sunset Hotel were absolutely perfect for what we needed - a cool, clean place to come back to after exploring the rainforest/beaches! The pool was a great way to stay cool and the location is perfect. Highly recommended. More

This time is 2nd visit. There is not the resort facility in this island, but the hotel is keeping very cleanly and Angy of the owner is very kindness. It is very convenient to do for diving because there is close to Jetty. Unfortunately there are a few restaurants in this island. We purchased food and enjoyed the making of supper... More

My husband and I have chosen Christmas and Cocos Island as our honeymoon destination. Our plan was to fly to Cocos Island first, stay there one week, and then to fly to Christmas Island for another one week. Unfortunately, our trip was changed due to Indonesian volcano ash. Our flights were cancelled, and instead of one week at Cocos Island,... More

Travelled with a group of friends (approx. 8 pax) and also took along our 4 month old infant for our maiden trip to Christmas Island and stayed at the Sunset for a week. If you are looking for a good relax in nice, clean surroundings, the Sunset is it. The owner, Angela, was extremely helpful and very accomodating. The lodge... More

There are very few tourists on Christmas Island at the moment, with flight schedules up in the air, and the few hotels often full of government workers. But if you do go, you will be amply rewarded by a wonderful island. We stayed at the Sunset which had great views (take a top floor Ocean View Room), and was clean,... More
