We spent the last 2 nights of our month in Belize at Birds Eye View Lodge in Crooked Tree. It was superb. Great place to hang out, watch birds and do some nice walks. The staff was all excellent, the food was great and the room was very comfortable and clean. This oldest town in Belize is very quiet, friendly... More

Bird's Eye View Lodge was our first stop in Belize. The room was fine with a good shower for washing off the sunscreen and bug spray at the end of the day. The food was great, if a bit too generous in quantity.. We even had a sample of the local cashew wine. The birding was the best. We walked... More

Well-located by the edge of the water in the Crooked Tree reserve, this is a nice enough place, considering it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. What really marks it out is how friendly and welcoming they all are. Good basic food served in the canteen and uninspiring but perfectly clean and functional rooms are the order of the... More

I spent 7 months in planning our 9-day birding trip to Belize. We decided not to take any birding package because we are "DIY" kind of birders. We are serious birders with wide age range (from 7-year-old to 70-year-old) and various medical conditions AND on a budget, therefore we need to plan our trip carefully, PLUS we need to assure... I stayed at the Bird's Eye View Lodge for a week with several classmates while on a hummingbird research trip. Birds are the stars of Crooked Tree, and you can see them everywhere you go! The rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. I had a room up on the terrace, and there was a beautiful view of the lagoon.... More

We stayed here as part of the Mayan World package with Island Expeditions, which included airport pickup, two nights and meals, a day trip to Lamanai via river, and then a morning bird watching followed by a road trip to Altun Ha. This overall package provided us with an excellent orientation to Belize, and prior to a separate trip to... More

We stayed here for two nights as part of a two week trip, travelling independently. Our initial impression was we had entered summer camp. We were told the fixed times for meals, the basic rules of the lodge, etc. Not particularly welcoming. The room was fairly basic, but large and clean. You pretty much have to eat on-site, as there... Whatever you do, check out the Crooked Tree Lodge before opting for this one. There are just the two real lodges, and BEVL was our second-choice, since CTL, with only a few rooms, was booked up. After paying them a visit during our stay, we would probably have preferred it there. Our main complaint was that it is absurdly overpriced... More

I agree with all the positive comments here. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable and clean (not fancy), meals tasty and wholesome. A wide variety of beautiful birds can be found all over the property, not just the lagoon; the morning birding by boat tour is superb. Hoping to return soon.

The lodge provided a wonderfull place to stay while exploring Northern Belize. The rooms were a bit frumpy and older looking but very clean, well apointed and comfortable. I stayed upstairs and with the windows open, the musical birds singing was a delight! The upstairs patio was fantastic too. There is plenty of informative reading material available in the lobby...
