We recently travelled to Doolin to celebrate a special family member birthday. The Ballinalacken Castle Country House was the perfect setting. Cecilia and her family were incredibly gracious hosts. Dinner was amazing, rivalling any meal we have had in NYC. The location is wonderful, complete with a tour of the original castle on the grounds. We would highly recommend this... More

We stayed at Ballinalacken for two nights in September and it was certainly one of the highlights of our trip around Ireland. The house is a blend of an older, heritage building with a newer wing added on - but this addition is done seamlessly. There is also the original castle about 20m away which the owners are happy to... More

My partner and I recently got married and stayed at Ballinalacken Castle Country House the nights before and of our wedding. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Champagne was waiting for us in our room on arrival, and anything that we asked they were more than happy to assist us with. The rooms were lovely and spacious, and the... More

Stayed for just one night in August. Firstly had difficulty in finding the location and then when we arrived at the door still were unsure as there was no signage. The recommendation plates were quite a few years old. Upon arrival in reception we did not experience a warm welcome rather a lukewarm one and also a rather musty smell. We... More

We stayed 4 nights & cannot say enough about the villa that was built in the 1840's, alongside the last standing castle tower. Upon arrival Brenda was a delight & showed us to our room with all kinds of pertinent info. The villa sits on a hill & the views of the Cliffs of Moher are visible as is the... More

Exceptional in every way. We are 3 couples that spent 4 nights in early October and traveled the area and the music in the pubs. Cecelia and Deklin were perfect hosts and Mary was a gracious and helpful staffer. The hotel was warm, clean and the atmosphere was wonderful. We ate there two nights and the food and wines compare... More

After spending two nights in Parknasilla in Kerry and not being too happy about value for money, I was very pleased to step into Ballinalacken Country House, we really enjoyed it, The atmosphere was lovely and the little bar serves the nicest pint of guiness. I would go back here and stay --- my only comment is that they may... More

Recently stayed at Ballinalacken Castle Country House (Summer 2011) and wanted top class hotel. The price of 200 Euro per night for the best room was high, so I didn't expect a cracked sink, rusty nails in the toilet seat and excuses rather than apologies when I mentioned the problems. There are many awards displayed on the walls most from... More

We only had one night at this special hotel - unfortunately. Warmly greeted by staff and owner Declan, we were treated to a tour of 12th century castle ruins on the property - the evening views of countryside spectactular. Our spacious room was very comfortable. The owner employs a talented chef and both dinner and breakfast in the antique filled... More
