Transfer to the hotel was seamless. The seaplane experience was great. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and to our surprise our over the water villa was ready for us even though it was only 11am. We had booked to stay in a sunset over the water villa on the grand all inclusive package for 9 nights. The room was beautiful and the views from the terrace were amazing. Thanks to Jomshed for keeping the room so clean for us. The bed was so comfortable one of the best we have slept in. Even the walk to and from the room was spectacular along a wooden walkway extending above the clear water. It really is a gorgeous island, crystal clear water and sand like icing sugar. The food was amazing and there was a nice variety. We don’t really enjoy buffet food but the food in the Reef restaurant was lovely and had a great choice. We tended to go here most lunch times for the salad as there was always a great choice and the food was fresh with lots of nice fish. The Italian restaurant was so delicious thank you to Desmond and Janet for their great service and friendly hospitality. The Thai restaurant was so delightful, the masaman curry was one of the best I have tasted. The club for breakfast was lovely and relaxing and the staff here were amazing. We would thoroughly recommend the trips, we did the whale shark and manta ray snorkelling - sights we will never forget. The gym was great, hardly anyone used it and the machines were fine and quite a nice weights area. You couldn’t fault the views from the treadmill. We honestly had the most relaxing holiday ever and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Some things though you should know although it definitely wouldn’t stop us going back: You need to book the restaurants in advance even for lunch (excluding the buffet). If there were big groups of people it was difficult to get in. I think they only take one booking per table per night so even though they say they are full often there are lots of tables free. This could be better and we often found the service quite slow. The sunset villas are right beside the seaplanes landing and taking off. We didn’t mind it but if you want a quiet peaceful holiday don’t book these. 4/5 times per day and they are noisy. Also, as they are sunset villas the pool/terrace only get the sun from about 2pm so we usually went to the club/beach/snorkelling in the morning. The free trips I.e. whale sharks are very busy and we found a bit dangerous. Tens of people in the water all trying to see the sharks and not bothering if they are kicking others. On our trip a woman was blowing her whistle and panicking and we had to go and rescue her as no one noticed. There are lots of families which is fine but it would be fantastic to have certain areas kid free. The club would be the perfect adults only area and perhaps some villas reserved only for adults. They are renewing the walkway between the villas so a bit of disruption and noice but it wasn’t too bad and nice to see them maintaining the resort to a high standard. It seems a lot of pointers but we did give it 5* and with some minor tweaks this resort would be even better.

Incredible experience. Special shoutout to Afsal who went above and beyond to make our stay nice. Food was great, the whole island is a total vibe. Marine life surrounding the island is abundant. Excursions are hella overpriced tho. Blown away by how helpful the staff was.

Centara Grand is beautiful resort with fabulous staff who were always professional as well as friendly during our stay, going above and beyond to ensure our every need was seen too. All the villas are scheduled to give you privacy whether you are beach front or over the water, to unwind to the sound of the waves in the background. Our villa was serviced by a wonderful housekeeper called Habib who could not do enough for us, from decorating our room for an impromptu birthday celebration to leaving a sand portrait on our patio every evening. The food and service in the Thai restaurant was first class, very authentic. With Yaaseen being especially attentive to make sure we enjoyed ourselves on every ocassion. Finally I want to give a special mention to the team at the Azzuri Mare restaurant (Italian). The food quality, presentation from Jithin the chef, and Mojo/Sunny service was sensational, with the daily catch of the day being a favorite. All in all Centera Grand made our visit to the Maldives a truly memorable experience.

Centara blew our minds away as it was our first stay with them. Everything from the front desk, the path to our villa, the villa and the sea is purely mesmerizing. The staff is so friendly and super nice. Everyone greets you with the best smile and the most amazing vibes. There’s a wide range of activities to enjoy and go on. The spa offers amazing services and there was a vast variety of food that you could enjoy in all 3 restaurants in addition to two bars that have amazing refreshing drinks and bartenders that offers a range of specialty drinks. I’m writing this as checking out and feeling broken hearted because Centara has made me want to live the island life :’) Special thanks and shout out to: • Nabeel at the front desk. • Sunny at the Azure Mare restaurant. • Sharapa (Bella) from front desk. •Rocky from house keeping.

The view, together with the architecture design, is fantastic. The resort management is excellent, ppl are nice, welcoming and helpful. Last day, I realized I lost my hat, but the staff found it for me in five minutes after I communicated with him.

Amazing resort/property marred by misinformation, lost luggage and inconsistent service levels. We have stayed for 5D4N and we were blown away by the views and sea life around the resort. There are resident blacktip reef sharks, manta, eel, school of fishes around the resort and we saw sea turtle right by our overwater villa with pool. Giving 2 stars solely for this. There are a couple things that we regretted not researching better or be more cautious of especially when it relates to weight allowances for seaplane check-in and transfer of luggage. Pre check-in misinformation - I was told by the reservation supervisor from Centara via email that I could check in a maximum of 20kgs plus 3kgs hand luggage. We were on multiple trips before this final leg to Maldives and this weighed heavily at the back of our minds. Both me and my wife restricted souvenir purchases and we even tossed out clothes to adhere to this. Upon arriving, we were told by the Trans Maldivian Airline ground staff we are allowed 25kgs per person, 50kgs for two. They did not specify that we are only allowed 20kgs check-in and even if this was true, how can you tell me I can only have 3kgs carry-on?? The difference of 2kgs/per person might not seem much to some but heck we were really trying to make this work for the both of us without spending unnecessarily for additional weight and we did not want to ask to repack or throw out stuff on the spot which apparently is also prohibited. The email I received from the resort/reservation supervisor states " there will be no option for removing items to reduce weight owing to hygiene reason". I thought that this will just be a cash grab opportunity on their part and I did not want to fall for it. If you are on multiple trips like us, you should take note of this policy. The ground staff at TMA seems to be more lenient than actually thought. Inefficient check-in process - check-in for us took really long, we were the last ones left. They assigned one person to deal with us and the front desk while we were seated at the reception lounge and I was eventually asked to personally visit the front desk because I had a question on the seaplane charges they were asking me to pay on arrival. I thought I paid everything when I have initially made the reservation. If you were trying to charge me something ON arrival, at least show me my reservation details, what charges were posted and what is left pending. Typically I wouldn't bat an eyelid on deposits requested because I know I'll get it back or it's something I have to deal with later. The weather was scorching hot and humid, we were exhausted and we weren't dressed down for the weather coming from a city before flying in and it took additional 15-20 minutes because I had this one question and front desk was pulling the information. Mishandling & delay of luggage sent to our room - I lost one of my TAGGED carry-on bags during my transit from Male to the resort. When I boarded the seaplane, the co-pilot/flight attendant helped me onboard and while doing so took away my carry-on. Granted it's a relatively compressed/lightweight carry-on I had a couple of essentials in there that I rely for my travel. When we arrived at a platform near the resort for transfer to the boat, one of the things the resort staff should have done is to ensure that everyone's luggage are transferred correctly. We all have luggage receipt from TMA. They should have asked to view what was on the receipt or have a check of it? What if one big piece was missing? I had this anxiety at the back of my mind because I did not really see my carry-on being unloaded and we were given the impression not to worry and they will take care of things. Fast-forward to after the slow check-in process, we waited like half and hour or more for our luggage to arrive at our room. We were not dressed down and we do not have our belongings so we were stuck in the room and on top of that we had our late lunch that we can't go to promptly. After all the waiting I just wanted to change and quickly head out. Unfortunately for me, this ended up to be a miss on my part as I did not realize one of my bags was missing until our last day/check-out. I checked with the resort before I left, I checked with their staff stationed at the airport as well as TMA customer service who all seemed pretty lost. The TMA customer service told me they could not locate it and might take days, there's nothing he could have done for me before I depart. I sent emails to all parties including picture attachments of my receipt, pic of my bag and have been ignored so far hence I'm here posting today to share my experience. It would be nice to get at least an email of acknowledgement from the management team. Not sure what I should be expecting from a 5-star (?) resort at this point. Learned my lesson the hard way. I also wanted to point out the resort was nice enough to provide complimentary amenities to us for our "anniversary" - homemade cakes, sparkling wine and supposedly ... bed decor (we did not observe any special decor - it seemed like the generic "Maharba" welcome message on arrival). They confirmed these via email when I asked if they could make my trip more memorable. However, they also only provided these the night before we depart. The staff seemingly tried justifying that they tried coming in the day before (I was not asking) but we weren't in. I guess if we weren't in the last night, we would have missed this altogether. Mixed feelings because I had specifically asked for special arrangement/packages for this trip to be memorable for us. While they executed this.. albeit strange timing and feels half-baked I do appreciate the effort. It just didn't feel particularly personalized or well-thought.

While delighted with the compliments, we were naturally saddened to learn about the inconvenience caused on the luggage allowances disparity during your seaplane transfer experience to the resort. We appreciate that this would have been a terrible experience and will have set a wrong start to your vacation with us. While the seaplane transfer is not an experience managed by us but by a third-party company, we fully understand and appreciate the disappointment and can only profusely apologize. We do provide all of our guests with details of the transfer experience, and we can see that these details from our Reservations team were indeed shared with you via your Reservation confirmation which also indicates the maximum permissible weight and the overweight luggage cost which was stipulated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), and ethically we have no intention at all to cash grab opportunity from our clients and guests. While this naturally has little impact in retrospect and certainly cannot undo the experience, we will make certain we insist with our team members that these details are provided to guests so as to ensure one is informed. We continue to stress the importance of this experience and while we work and communicate with the Airline Ground Team on your alleged missing carry-on bag which was reported to us on the final leg of your vacation. We also can only profusely apologize that you felt we did not genuinely care for you at arrival and departure and that no apology was extended. Appreciating the hot and humid weather did not help, we do regret that the check-in steps we took during your arrival to try and enhance your experience were not adding value for you or did not meet your expectations and again, thank you for bringing the challenges to our attention. Our Management team are very active in their engagement with guests, and we are at a loss to understand how that we would not have been able to address your issues during your stay and we all regret that we left an impression that no Management was around to interact with regards to your concern. We have also checked with our respective team members that have been assigned to service your room including the setting-up of your anniversary amenities. Our daily data and records collected during that period had shown the following status of your room: 1) 9th Mar Arrival: Welcoming Bed Decoration – ‘Marhaba Greetings’ 2) 9th Mar Turn-down Service: Refused – 19:20 hours 3) 10th Mar Day Service: My Green Day Request 4) 10th Mar Turn-down Service: Refused at 20:00 hours 5) 11th Mar Day Service: Provided between 13:45 hours to 14:15 hours 6) 11th Mar Turn-down Service: Room Signage was on DND (DO NOT DISTURB) 7) 12th Mar Day Service: Room Signage was on DND (DO NOT DISTURB) 8) 12th Mar Turn-down Service: Provided between 20:40 hours to 21:10 hours (Anniversary Bed Decoration) Hence, based on our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) which doesn’t permit us to enter any room/villa under the DO NOT DISTURB (DND) signage and/or when refused by the guest for such Housekeeping services, our team will then make an effort to arrange the Housekeeping services as and when the room is made available and permitted for our villa attendants to enter and do the necessary set-up. Despite this, we have robust security protocols in place for our team members to ensure that no unauthorized entry to guest room/villa so as to observe guest privacy and comfort at all times. We are sad to hear that we fell short of the mark in some areas, and we really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. Without re-writing the detailed comments, please know that we have taken each very seriously. Your feedback is valuable and taken on board and we shall use it to ensure we refocus on all our interactions and service delivery. We sincerely wish we knew your disappointment while you were at the property as our team would have certainly tried our best to turn the experience around. Once again, we have acknowledged your concerns about your missing carry-on bag during your seaplane transit to the resort. We had the most amazing honeymoon at Centara! The staff were extremely friendly! I would like mention a few in particular. Sunny was the warmest and sweetest soul! He helped me get food sent to our room the one night my husband was feeling really ill and we couldn’t make it through our reservation. He offered to take photos for us when he just saw us out trying to use a timer. We loved hearing his own stories. Sunny is a true gem for this resort and the hospitality. He made this trip one to remember! Also, Desmond has amazing service ! Also, Mitchell at the Reef Buffet knew our room number and recognized us the second time we saw her! She is extremely warm and welcoming! Made us feel right at home and even got my special iced coffee for me a little before hours! The GM ,Nalin, was amazing and always stopped by to say hello and check in on us throughout the whole trip! Extremely nice and accommodating gentleman. Food was very fresh and delicious. Even the buffet had many options for any diet! From the beginning, the experience was spectacular. The staff took our bags and sent them to our room, had a beautiful setup for our honeymoon, and brought our bags back for the seaplane. I mean, the service is just spot on and unparalleled. We got a private romantic dinner on the beach. Highly recommend. It was delicious and our server was so nice and attentive. (Wish I remember his name because we had a wonderful time talking to him, as well.) The resort is beautiful and the immensities were amazing. The non-motors water sports and gear was a very nice touch being included. Also, the snorkling behind the dive center was beyond amazing! Saw so many beautiful fish, sharks, eel, turtles, rays! I mean the Maldives are just beautiful, but the snorking is beyond anywhere else I have ever been. The water and island had no trash, seaweed, and I never once saw a jelly fish! Everything was extremely clean and well kept. Bed was so comfy and the room was a dream! We went on the whale shark excursion twice and didn’t see one, the next boat also said they didn’t see one. Seems to be very rare. Just FYI. The only feedback I have is that I wish all inclusive packages could include in room dining and food at the coral bar. Maybe have the two different tiers include those experienced, as well to some extent. Also, thought the smoothies and milkshakes should be included in the all inclusive plan instead of just the grand all inclusive plan. I loved how the resort was not packed and feels more intimate and comfortable. You don’t have to fight for a spot to relax and it never once felt overcrowded anywhere! Highly recommend! We will be back again one day!
