What a find! The host Robert, greeted us with genuine smile and chatted to us throughout the evening (we were in the pub section and wanted an evening meal). The menu was varied and traditional and the food was obviously freshly cooked to order. The mashed potatoes that came with the meal were so fabulous we had to ask how... More

Kathleen and Robert were great hosts. Robert in the restaurant and Kathleen made the best breakfast. Fantastic coffee as well. It was our anniversary and they made it extra special. Can't beat the value for a great nights sleep in County Clare. More

Avoid room 2, next to the laundry room (laundry was cleaned overnight as we tried to sleep. Rooms were very small and basic. Bath needs updating. Breakfast was minimal. Adjacent restraunt had corned beef, cabbage & bacon both nights we were there. Nice bar, but food was expensive and bland for what was offered. Nice sitting room and breakfast room... More

Hunters Lodge was our first and only reservation on our 10 day road trip / adventure through the West coast of Ireland. The proprietors (Robert & Kathleen) were gracious and accomodating. The food was surpisingly good (we did not know what to expect). The bar area at night offered varied personalities was fun enough for us. The location is quaint... More

What can I say... I felt at home from the second we walked into the place! We stayed at the hunter's lodge while attending a wedding in nearby Dromoland recently. We arrived on Fri evening and had dinner in the bar next door (it is all the one business). The food was typical pub grub but absolutely delicious, and the... More

A great affordable place to stay if attending a wedding in Drumoland Castle or simply holidaying in Clare. The rooms were well decorated with confortable beds and flat screen TV's. The owners clearly were proud of their guesthouse and were very friendly and helpful. The same people own the pub next door which serves great food in a warm and... More

What a nice surprise upon entering the room! The decor was really nice and the beds were very comfortable. Kathleen and Richard are pleasant hosts who made us feel welcome from the start. Breakfast was fantastic and satisfying. I enjoyed my brief stay at Hunter's Lodge. More

Since there are no photos posted on the Hunter's Lodge website I was somewhat leary about exactly what I had booked. Pleasantly surprised. After just arriving in Shannon, we were very tired. Our plans were to attend a family wedding reception that evening at Dromoland. Since they helped us arrange a taxi to take us back and forth to the... More

We had to fly back from to Holland from a weeks holiday in Ireland. We stayed one night at the Hunters Lodge. Nice furniture, good bed, great TV-screem, good showers. Our own hairdrier in the room. Nice staff and good food in the pub/restaurant. All at a very reasonable price. The lodge is next to a busy road, but in... More

A real disappointment. Paper thin mattresses, broken showers, and a hair dryer that must be shared by several rooms, all in sparsely furnished rooms (our party used three). Unfortunately, road crews started work right outside our windows at 7 AM each morning. The staff was friendly (as is everyone in Ireland), but seemed to accept the condition with no ambition... More
