Food was very average and tremendously expensive. I had the mussels to start and they were overcooked and gritty. Their side salad consisted of a small bowl of lettuce with a sprinkling of dressing, for this they charge €2.95. Monkfish overcooked and flavourless and the smallest portion I have ever seen as a main course cost €24. Lots of better... More

We stayed here in May and ate in the lovely bistro. The family room was perfect and the sea views were excellent. Dinner in the bistro was first class with our young foodie son enjoying crab and scallops in a shellfish base, our young daughter ate the fish goujons, hubby had the traditional fish and chips and I had a... My wife and I had an excellent stay at The Strand in May. We had a lovely room overlooking the ocean and Johnny's cooking was very good for supper as well as breakfast. We highly recommend this place for a great experience in west Ireland.

We were lucky to find this on passing through this village and I must say we were please with the food. The staff were very friendly, lovely view of the ocean. It was comfortable to sit in and a lovely selection on the menu. It look like it was recently done up and still in progress but it was very... More

A beautiful guest house which has retained the charm and individuality of days gone by. Our evening meal was a "feast for the palate", the service and friendliness typical of a family run business. After our full Irish breakfast we walked along the cliff, which is within walking distance, and were rewarded by a magnificent breathtaking view. We hope to... More

The Breakfast was also really good (full irish or a lot of varieties) The room was nice, clean and with a good view over the bay and the... More

I stayed in the Strand in June 2012 with my family for a number of nights. We were very well looked after by the owners Johnny and Caroline with nothing being too much trouble for them. Our rooms were clean and homely with a spectacular view of the bay. The menu was wide ranging and varied and included several vegetarian... More

Spent the weekend here with my boyfriend in an attempt to avoid the January blues and it greatly exceeded my expectations. Having travelled the world over and having stayed from hostels to 5 star hotels I feel compelled to write a review of this place,(I rarely write reviews) Believe me I'm hard to impress at times and this place is... I'd chosen The Strand based on TripAdvisor reviews, when I knew that my friend and I wanted to visit Loop Head Peninsula. And we weren't disappointed. Our double room had a great bay window overlooking the Kilkee Bay. And right outside our room was a sitting area with a comfy couch/chair. Perhaps it could be a noisy gathering place when... More
