They have donkeys, ponies, 2 mad dogs, and chickens that lay the most wonderful eggs I've had in a long time. Gerry and Aoife (sp?) are your hosts and they are the most delightful couple I've met in ages. Rooms are comfortable, the location in the Burren is superb. Gerry has recommendations for everything and put us on to some... more

My friend and I just returned from a two week vacation to Ireland. While we were there, we rented a car and traveled around the south. Slieve Elva was one of the best B&Bs that we stayed at. Gerry was absolutely wonderful. He treated us like family and gave us some great advice on a local pub. He also brought... more

I stayed at Slieve Elva Farmhouse with my wife and her Mum & Dad in July and would like to highly recommend it for anyone heading to the beautiful west coast of Ireland. Hosts, Gerry & Aoife, met us at the door warmly and we were sipping tea, eating Gerry's home made scones and chatting and laughing with our hosts... more

Really enjoyed our stay, host where very accomadating & seemed genuinely interested in what we needed for our stay. Tea & coffee facilities are in a guest living room with open turf fire and library, great for mingling with other guests 5 minutes drive to Lisdoonvarna, taxis available if you want to have a pint in the legendary town. Gerry... more

My wife and I were in Ireland on a university business trip, and we needed a place to spend the last weekend before we got back to Shannon. As a working farm with gourmet breakfasts, this one stood out in the reviews. The road up to the house is absolutely stunning, with a 15th century graveyard just yards away. Gerry... more

Slieve Elva was one of the most memorable stays of our trip to Ireland. It truly was a unique B&B experience. From Gerry's hilarious stories to Aoife's helpful travel advice, our time here was immensely enjoyed. It wasn't often in our travels that we came across B&B proprietors who were as enthusiastic about their B&B and their guests as these... more

30 May 2008 | Trip type: Family

We stayed at Slieve Elva on two seperate nights a week apart and missed the Cliff Richards background music. So I'm guessing this is not a regular feature. The donkeys are there full time, however, so if their braying will be a problem for you, staying in the countryside of west Clare might not be your best choice. But if... more

Great views and close to Lisdoonvarna. Hosts are friendly and one does not feel you are intruding. The breakfast is terrific and Gerry was happy to make me my special coffee-I alway bring my own to perk me up. Rooms good size and spotless. Can be a bit windy as near the Atlantic ocean but this has the advantage as... more

We have been going to Lisdoonvarna for over 20 years visiting relatives and have stayed in many hotels etc as their room is limited. Ever since Gerry and Aoife took over Slieve Elva we would not stay anywhere else. Stunning views, great facilities in their B+B. Best breakfast in the area. Gerry and Aoife are super hosts and nothing too... more
