We only had one night to spare so we chose very carefully and we were enthralled by Currarevagh. It is completly authentic, from the genuine warmth and friendliness of Henry and mindfull hospitality of Jane, to the wonderful food, gracious old house and gardens. The location is outstanding with woodland walks for Shadow, beautiful views of the islands and lake.... More

We stayed here the night before running the Connemarathon recently. The hospitality was simply outstanding. The surroundings are so peaceful, the building is beautiful, Henry and his staff do everything they can to make your stay as relaxed as possible. From the afternoon tea to the wonderful dinner and great, hot filling breakfast over looking the beautiful Lough Corrib we... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here on our first trip away together with my family a couple of years ago. The surroundings are truly magnificent and there is a wonderful sense of history about the place which is full of character. We received a warm welcome from the owners, which put us immediately at ease on this potentially awkward family... More

We stayed for two nights in August 2011, it was a wedding present from a friend. From the moment we arrived to the time we left it was perfect. The ambience of the house is of pure relaxtion. During the day we borrowed one of the rowing boats from the house and drifted in the sunshine whilst sipping some wine.... More

My wife and I had promised to return after spending one night on our honeymoon. It took us 35 years (virtually to the day) to get around to it and we weren't disappointed. From the initial call the experience was as we recalled – relaxed, courteous and welcoming. This time it Hodgson Junior (Henry) who was our host and he... More

Just what we were looking for--a private setting and amazing hospitality. Situated on the shores of Lough Corrib and 150 acres of private forest, it is a place to do some serious relaxing. Henry, the owner/bar tender/waiter/everything else welcomes you to his family estate and encourages you to enjoy all it's amenities. High tea is a daily event, and it's... More

We've driven up to equally grand looking houses and been disappointed with the detail but from the moment we were greeted by owner and host, Henry, we were pretty sure we were on to a winner. And so it proved to be. Everything about this place exudes character (in a good way) from the furnishings to the owners to the... More

Two hundred years of family ownership mean that a tradition of hospitality makes this more akin to being invited to a private country house stay than being 'paying guests'. The Hodgsons ensure that from the complimentary tea (with superb home made cakes) to the gourmet cuisine from Lucy served under the watchful eye of Henry (no relation) everything runs to... More

We just got our visit in before the end of the season, but we'll be back. The best hospitality we've experienced in a long time. Perfectly-pitched for relaxation: comfy beds, breakfast when we were ready for it, textbook afternoon tea, wonderful dinner and great company of fellow guests. Could have stayed for ever... More

Stayed here last year and just had to return. The location, hotel, owners and staff are charming. Do not give it a miss. Never mind the rain! More
