My wife and I had promised to return after spending one night on our honeymoon. It took us 35 years (virtually to the day) to get around to it and we weren't disappointed. From the initial call the experience was as we recalled – relaxed, courteous and welcoming. This time it Hodgson Junior (Henry) who was our host and he... More

Just what we were looking for--a private setting and amazing hospitality. Situated on the shores of Lough Corrib and 150 acres of private forest, it is a place to do some serious relaxing. Henry, the owner/bar tender/waiter/everything else welcomes you to his family estate and encourages you to enjoy all it's amenities. High tea is a daily event, and it's... More

We've driven up to equally grand looking houses and been disappointed with the detail but from the moment we were greeted by owner and host, Henry, we were pretty sure we were on to a winner. And so it proved to be. Everything about this place exudes character (in a good way) from the furnishings to the owners to the... More

Two hundred years of family ownership mean that a tradition of hospitality makes this more akin to being invited to a private country house stay than being 'paying guests'. The Hodgsons ensure that from the complimentary tea (with superb home made cakes) to the gourmet cuisine from Lucy served under the watchful eye of Henry (no relation) everything runs to... More

We just got our visit in before the end of the season, but we'll be back. The best hospitality we've experienced in a long time. Perfectly-pitched for relaxation: comfy beds, breakfast when we were ready for it, textbook afternoon tea, wonderful dinner and great company of fellow guests. Could have stayed for ever... More

Stayed here last year and just had to return. The location, hotel, owners and staff are charming. Do not give it a miss. Never mind the rain! More

Looking for a spot wellknown for fishing we (three guys) booked this very traditional guesthouse. The fishing was not spectacular- maybe we did expect too much. The weather was very Irish- wet and windy. But Henry, our host, was perfect: we did feel home straight away. The cook -Henry's wife- was outstanding and deserves a gold medal. And the atmosphere... It was with great regret that we had to leave after 3 nights. The hospitality, the wonderful setting without mentioning the food: from afternoon tea in the drawing room; a wonderful occasion to either snuggle up with a book or to meet the other guests; to the truly exceptional dinner are just are some of the reasons we will be... We stayed here for 3 nights and had a truly wonderful time. The hostess is very welcoming as are all the family and staff. The best thing about this place is the food which in our opinion is Michelin star standard - the very few negative reviews on here are absolute nonsense. Yes the bedrooms and bathrooms are old school,... More

From start to finish the two nights my boyfriend and I spent in Currarevagh were perfect. In fact our only real complaint is that we had to leave at all. First of all, if you're not prepared to embrace this unique experience don't bother going. We're in our mid-twenties and we realise it's not for everyone, but if you appreciate... More
