My sister and I had made reservations at The Olde Bakery Bed and Breakfast, but when we arrived in Kinsale, the owners were not there. We waited for two hours, but they still had not arrived. So we walked a half block away, and noticed that The Captain's Quarters had a vacancy sign in the window. The lovely owner's wife welcomed us immediately, and we had a twin room on the ground floor, as requested. Unless you are very fit and a good walker, it is a bit of a ways out of town. But we took a cab into town and the town itself is charming and lovely. And, one block from the B&B is the harbor, and a beautiful view it is from the rooms. Most all of the restaurants in town are wonderful, and so are the pubs. We stayed with the B&B for three days and had a wonderful time! more

The best part of Captain's Quarters is the location. It is a five minute walk to anything you would want to see and eat. The rooms are ok, but not great. The breakfast was all right, but not great. The best part is that it is located near the docks, meaning that you do not need to walk uphill late at night after going out. It is not a B&B in the way that the others were. It is definitely more a cross between B&B and hotel. The rate was good and the location was fantastic, but I would not spend more than one night here.

For Americans traveling here, they are ecologically conscious, meaning that they do not provide a top sheet or blanket for the bed. All they have is a duvet cover that is washed, or smells like it is, but in a very potent fragrant linen wash that is tough on the nose.
