Sudbury is not over-burdened with hotels, so the Boathouse is a welcome addition. It has a great location overlooking the River Stour and meadows, but is still within a 5 minute walk of the town centre. It's either a modern building or extensively refurbished (I can't remember what was on this site before). It bills itself as a restaurant with rooms, so people looking for a full service hotel should go elsewhere (i.e. not Sudbury). My room was small (even by UK standards), and the bathroom was tiny. It was clean and comfortable, and furnished IKEA style. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant has a lovely view, and serves what you might call 'Modern British Bistro' food. All in all, perfectly pleasant and fit for purpose, but not amazing.
