Hubby and I have just come back from a 2 night stay here dinner, b&b (£300). There were some really nice touches at the hotel. The small warming decanter of sherry in your room with some homemade shortbread and a Thornton chocolate each was very welcome at the end of a long day walking. There is also no fear of... more

We had a 3 night stay over the New Year. Considering the hotel was under refurbishment, the whole stay was very very enjoyable. The attitude of the staff was very friendly and professional, the food was excellent with a very good choice, What a good start to 2010. more

Stayed for family party. Good clean comfortable well furnished rooms. Only minor niggle - room a little over-heated (overactive storage heaters in the small hours). Excellent evening meal with good range of quality dishes and generous portions. Full Monsal breakfast highly recommended but not as part of a calorie controlled diet. Good range of real ales in the bar. Friendly,... more

My Husband and I stayed at the Monsal Head Hotel for 2 nights. We went with my sister and 2 brothers and their spouses and we met up with my niece and nephew and his wife. His wife used to work at the hotel. We had a beautiful meal on the Friday night and the breakfasts were excellent too. The... more

This review is really for the restaurant which we visited the other week. The food and service are dire. The view from monsal head is superb what a shame about the hotel. Roast beef overcooked so much i could have used it to sole my walking boots.Roast potatoes burnt and vegetables mushy. The whole place needs a revamp even the... more

We stayed here for 3 nights on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. We found the hotel relaxing and the food excellent, with a menu wide enough to easily have different meals for three nights. The room (Dale) had double aspect views down Monsal Dale, and the bed was comfy, with a lovely sitting area to relax in. The waiting... more

The hotel is situated in a beautiful spot over looking the monsal Dale and Viaduct. It is ideal if you love walking and taking in the views. The hotel is well located for exploring the rest of the area and is close to Bakewell. We stayed in room 1 which had the best views in the hotel. We couldn't have... more

We only had a meal so cannot comment on the accomodation. Been to this hotel with a fantastic view a couple of times. Its a traditional place but with a lovely dining room or you can eat in the pub opposite, which is the ex stables (same menu and prices) or outside if its nice. Excellent proper food nicely presented... more

We booked for one night as we were fly fishing on the River Wye nearby. Got an excellent deal for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast £150 per room. Hotel is in a quiet spot about three miles from Bakewell with not a lot around it but a beautiful view of the Monsal Dale. It is sited in the middle of several... more
