A very good base to travel from. There are loads of pubs in the town that do good food and good beers, so you don't have to eat at the Wetherspoons. The carpark can get busy and there are a few tight spots. Staff are excellent and very helpful. I would advise you bring ear plugs as the fron rooms... More

I have just come back from a long weekend. The hotel was good and staff friendly. Large twin room and very clean. Lift to 1st floor but not second floor. When you take your key card out keep well away from mobile phone as it deactivated mine and When I went done to the car early in the morning had... More

We were in the UK to have a family week with our blended family, so we decided to stay at the Portland Hotel as they can accommodate 3 children each in their own beds. Hubby also liked the fact that it's a Wetherspoons as he's only ever had positive things to say about that pub. We arrived early but they... More

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend with some friends. When I learnt (booked by others) that it was a Wetherspoons hotel we were to stay at I was a little concerned but that was soon dismissed. The Hotel is situated right in the heart of the old town and on the square, the crooked spire church being... More

We booked a single night here, part of the Wetherspoons Lodge group at fairly short notice for Saturday night. Arrived at the hotel 5.30ish and were welcomed by Louise, who showed us to our room and explained how and where to park and ensure that we knew everything we needed to know including the name of the night porter that... We stayed for 3 nights in room 103- a large, well furnished room overlooking the market. Everything in the room was of a good standard and the bed was comfortable. We particularly liked the bottled water and the generous amount of tea and coffee provided daily. A great base for a short break! More

Stayed in Portland Hotel (Wetherspoons) Chesterfield. Very large room & bed, comfortable, flat screen TV, Tea & Coffee, Botttled Water & Biscuits. The front rooms can be a little noisy as it is in the Centre. Food & drink are obviously very competitively priced as it is a Wetherspoons and the Breakfast is of exceptional value. This Hotel is in an... More
