It is a good job I did not turn on my heel and walk out after being totally ignored by the receptionist - I couldn't actually believe it was happening: she was on the phone, obviously to a friend, I got a cursory glance then ignored! I waited.....and waited.....and was just about to go when luckily another member of staff... More

Stayed at this hotel for two nights recently.....room was ideal and had everthing required, very clean...Food was very good with more than ample proportions for everyone. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and when sitting in reception area waiting for family to arrive we were offered free tea/coffee. Also has plenty of free secured parking Would highly recommend More

Made to feel very welcome by everyone. Room was first class, very comfortable and spotless. Bedlinen & towels were lovely and fresh. Had huge tv screen which was a nice surprise and the room was nicely heated. Loved the free wifi. Food was freshly prepared, homemade, hot and very generous portions. Excellent value for money. Big thank you to the... More

We dined at The Downshire on New Year's Eve - the busiest night of the year and were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by front of house, welcomed and taken to our table. The staff could not have done enough for us ensuring our night was success, checking several times if we needed anything and we were given... More

We arrived at the Downshire on 27/12/11 around 5pm to get something to eat. On arrival, we had been directed to the pub section downstairs, we scanned around looking for a table & ended up sitting at an empty table which hadnt been cleared & cleaned down from the previous diners (this is usually no problem but we had to... Staying in Ireland you expect to get extremely friendly people and to have a great time! I got exactly that!!!! What I didn't expect from this hotel was the 5 Star food that they serve up day in, day out!!! I am absolutely blown away by the quality of food that I scoffed down during my stay! Great value for... First impressions when you arrive at this hotel is that it looks just like a high street pub.Its location in Banbridge is good. Right on the main street. Looks can be deceiving. I was welcomed by the excellent reception staff who continued to be so helpful during my stay. The hotel has a real cosy feel to it and is... More

Terrific food served in this restaurant, very large helpings of everything, all well presented and certainly not expensive. Well worth a visit. Also easy parking behind the restaurant. More

Arrived late in the evening...not quite a warm welcome but a nice clean well maintained room. Down at the bar there was a warm atmosphere of residents and locals in a very nice bar. Food was excellent and the choice of beers good. A little noisy at night next to a main road but not too bad. Breakfast was in... More
