Four of us had a warm welcome from Margaret and were given comfortable rooms. Breakfast was splendid and freshly cooked to order. It all felt very homely and we were treated to a tour of Ronnie's fabulous collection of old restored tractors and cars. An added bonus was watching the red squirrels playing in the garden. Thanks very much to... More

Wonderful warm Irish welcome from Margaret and Ronnie and a really great house in a wonderful setting very near the shores of Strangford Lough. Comfortable en suite room for my son and myself with character beds which were very good. Great breakfasts! Served in a dining room with a host of interesting features (the sideboard is truly amazing!). Self catering... More

Our host Margaret made us dinner reservations at a pub near by and that was helpful due to our late arrival. Margaret treats everyone as part of the family and you feel truly a part of the family. The food was good and the rooms were nice.

Thank goodness, Margaret had the cottage available since I had injured myself on arrival in Ireland and was having to use a wheelchair. The cottage has a kitchen, living room and two bedrooms, one on the ground floor. Margaret had already made us a dinner reservation in the nearby town. The B&B was charming and the grounds were in full... More

It is no exageration to describe the Deerings home as the best B&B ever! As a prior person wrote, Margaret treats everone as royalty. I found her through Frommer's Guide and I can't say enough about her. We were so looking forward to staying there but shortly before we left home she wrote how sorry she was but her family... More

In 2004, we stayed at Ballycastle House for 4 nights. We dined on Royal Doulton china, ate the finest Irish breakfast, with fresh fruit and fresh baked bread. The surrounding area is a dream come true and the Strangford Lough is but a walk away. Mount Stewart is a must to see and all this, right next to the most... More

Margaret was a great hostess...We enjoyed our first stay there so much, that we went back there on our way to Scotland to "relax." Also, the other patrons were a delight to visit.
