There aren't many places to eat in Carmarthen, and we chose the Boars Head in Carmarthen for our club Christmas meal because it seemed like a large, nicely decorated place to eat. We thought that £20 per head was a bit steep, but figured that it was worth paying for good food. Sadly, the night was a thorough disappointment. The... more

The most unwelcoming place I have ever visited mostly due to the terrible attitude of the landlord and his wife. They are clearly not cut out to run a business and would benefit from a course in customer care! Would not recommend to anyone!!!! more

I didn't stay here but ate in the restaurant as there are few places open in the evening in Carmarthen. The service was sulky and generally unhelpful. The food was revolting. The 'creamy' sauce on the pasta had separated and it was completely tasteless. I left half of it, despite paying nearly £10 for a fairly basic plate of pasta. more

Nothing special but perfectly acceptable - very clean and reasonably presented, though the sheets were so thin as to be practically transparent. The cooked breakfast was good, though the tea could have been hotter and more plentiful, also beware it is charged over and above the room rate, unusual in the UK outside Travel Inns and the like. Main problem... more

Asked for a twin, but got a double, great we thought! 2 big double beds. then we started to look around............. 1. There had been water damage at some point from the ceiling, as the paper was bulging, and was actually missing from the centre of the ceiling. 2. Bulbs missing from lights above bed. 3. Sockets not working next... more

The Boars Head lets itself down by focusing on cutting corners rather than creating a good visitor experience. The bar lounge area is typical local pub that seems to be popular with local groups who use the function rooms. Good beers on tap and good prices. However, the fun begins in the rooms up the steep stairs. I saw two... more

The Boars Head is on a main street with many similar inns offering guest accommodation. We had a triple room (well, family i.e. double and a single) that suited us fine just for the night as we had a very early train to catch. The room was very clean, the en-suite bathroom spacious and comfortable. Maybe the check in procedure... more

We have just returned from a night's stay at the Boars Head in Camarthen. Whilst the room was adequate we were kept awake by an unruly aggresive drunk gentleman in the next room until 4am. We could not contact anyone in the hotel to deal with the problem as the reception was unmanned at night, and we were too scared... more
