The Chateau de la Treyne is set in beautiful gardens on the top of cliffs overlooking the Dordogne River. My wife and I arrived late in the evening but had a wonderful welcome as well as a table for dinner which I thought we had missed. Our "Fenelon" room had fabulous views of both the gardens and the river below.... More

Its difficult to comment on perfection. We had lunch here on the 14th of May - oh what an experience, I had been before so knew what to expect and expected it to be perfect which it was. The food is magical and not over heavy with sauces, its light and full of surprises with every little bite you get... More

We booked last minute and received a large, beautiful room facing the garden. On arrival our bags were taken to our room, and we were given a lovely tour of the chateau. It is gorgeous! Dinner was phenomenal and we were seated at a table overlooking the river. It had been raining so we took our champagne aperitifs and amuse... More

This Relais&Chataux was magnificent. It's charming old world feel, excellent staff, and the most divine food made this chateaux our favorite place. Next to the chateaux are woods on the grounds with lots of trails and fun places to explore. Our room faced the dordogne and the sunsets were lovely. The outside terrace was a great spot to sit with... More

Wow! Staying here was a very special treat. The charm and beauty of the chateau was matched by the attentiveness of the staff and the comfort of the accommodations. Always welcoming and concerned for our well-being, the staff could not have been nicer; our upgraded room was more than we had hoped for; the dinner and the breakfast were elegantly... More

Again here is an issue of ranking the hotel, the staff and the restaurant. Let's start with the staff-- friendly, helpful, wonderful. The restaurant was a one star Michelin and very definitely deserves it. Elegant and excellent food. The outside of the hotel and the grounds are stupendous. Everything just perfect. it is, however, an old chateau where some effort... More

The castle and grounds are amazing. Obviously castles are expensive to maintain and hence the price of 150 euros for a very basic, small room. Because the chef has a Michelin star rating all the food here is very expensive. We chose to opt out of the 24 Euro per person breakfast and the half board at 120 Euros/person was... More

Stayed there for the third time in August 2011. Again the staff were warm and friendly from the moment we arrived and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. On previous visits we have had rooms overlooking the lovely gardens, but on this occasion opted for a room with a terrace overlooking the Dordogne. The bedroom was very... More

Paradise exists in a few places on earth and this is one of them. We have stayed in many wonderful Relais et Chateau but we keep coming back to this one- it has all the right ingredients. No one can fail to be seduced by this fairy tale chateau perched over the Dordogne with spectacular views over the river and... More

It is situated over the Dordogne river with a terrace facing the setting sun. This makes for perfectly romantic dinners in summertime. Food is superb, though very expensive with a 2* Michelin cuisine. Rooms are nice, but nothing extraordinary, but the old castle with the green surroundings is very charming. It is under the management of a German wife with... More

Thank you very much for having taken time to give your comments on Tripadvisor. We are very pleased to know that you enjoy your stay in Chateau de la Treyne, but you have to know that we have 1* in the famous Michelin Guide. Perhaps we will have a second one in the future. stephanie gombert. More
