I have stayed at the Talbot three times because of work commitments in the area, and I heartily recommend it. The rooms are very comfortable, the bathrooms excellent with nice toiletries and the breakfast is really good - plenty of fresh fruit, home-made bread. The evening meals are also good, with pleasant service. It's not cheap, but both accommodation and...

We spent 2 nights in The Talbot Earlier this month as we were attending a function close by .
There was a pleasant welcome, but our room was very small, more suited as a single, only one bedside locker and little room to move around. Bathroom on the other hand was quite large.
The bed was poor other furnishings were adequate....

We decided to go to The Talbot as we thought it would be a bit special. It is a pleasant pub and the bar staff were polite and welcoming. We ordered two crab and prawn salads and a portion of chips. We were brought a glass of this salad and queried that it was a main course as it looked...

'I've smuggled you some bread from the kitchen," the waitress - who's lovely, no...

The Talbot is best described as a country pub with rooms rather than a hotel, but don’t be put off staying there because of that, my wife and I went there for a two night weekend break and will be certainly returning.
The proprietors and staff are very friendly and welcoming, the restaurant serves really good quality food, the wine...

Though the pub is fine and the room was fine, it was very expensive for the facilities on offer. I would have expected a better level of service for this price, with a night porter and a residents bar facility perhaps.
The pub landlord was a bit strange too, I thought, though not what you would call a problem, he...

A great pub with great food. The owners and staff are hospitable and welcoming and the room we stayed in was large, comfortable and absolutely spotless. The food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced and made with local fresh produce. But best of all was the breakfast - the best English breakfast I have ever had!
