My partner and I actually met in this pub 15 years ago and keep going back. We've seen landlords come and go, with some real fawlty towers types running the place. Currently it's looking good, and possibly privately owned as opposed to the companies that bleed pubs dry. Great food, friendly staff and a wonderful old building. Be prepared to... More

We have eaten here as a couple and more recently as part of a large group. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts Rachael and William at this delightful 14th century inn in one of the prettiest villages in Suffolk. Much of the food served is locally sourced and the menu is very good. We enjoyed crayfish salad, pea mint... More

We had a very pleasant one night stay .... yes okay there are shared facilities and it's ages since we've experienced anything other than en suite. Really it wasn't a problem, perhaps as only two of the four rooms were occupied. The pub is lovely and the accommodation really very nice, true to the English countryside ... Everything spotless and... More

Booked one night at the Peacock inn as a late anniversary getaway, room was very comfortable and proprietors very hospitable. The restaurant was extremely busy, and for good reason as the food was lovely, well done the chef. Breakfast again was A1 with the full English not to be missed. The Peacock is nestled within a quaint true English village... More

We had initially booked accommodation here, as we had a family event taking place in the village and wanted to be as close as possible. I never thought to ask if the rooms had en-suite facilities and was really shocked on arrival to find that not one room has. BUT... the owners were great about it and very apologetic. Yes,... More

A walk through the snow was rewarded by a warm welcome from the proprietors and bar staff and two roaring log fires. The food (lunch) was excellent and a 'light' meal more than adequate for lunchtime when you are dining out in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble - high chair and extra plates for two year old. The... More

Stayed in the area with friends for New Year. Booked dinner for New Year's Eve as within walking distance of our accommodation. Checked out restaurant on Sat eve prior and found we were the only people dining, despite the fact that they serve excellent food! It also appeared we were only table booked for New Year's Eve but thought there... More

Although we live some way from Chelsworth, this is one of our favourite country pubs and we visit it quite regularly. It has a superb setting in a picturesque village and across from a small river. In the summer we always eat in the pretty garden, but being Autumn we ate in the atmospheric old bar. Commendably much of the... More

I stopped here for a meal, after a day out in Norfolk & Suffolk. I arrived just as the pub was opening at 6pm. As I walked in I was greeted by the bar staff, all very friendly and cheerful. The pub has a good selection of bitters, and a very nice menu. I choose the Chicken meal, and very... More

A lovely small pub with lots of charm. A good choice of beers and the menu offers good choices from bar food to restaurant food. Open fires add to the atmosphere and you can also bring your dog. Sunday lunchtime is great with snacks provided on the bar.
