After a day of touring the Yorkshire Dales, we couldn't believe our luck stumbling into this perfect, romantic, village hideaway. Wonderfully appointed rooms, with luxurious marble baths, in a centuries old grouping of stone buildings. AA "Rosettes" awards for seriously good cuisine cover most of the walls in reception. Brilliant, sincere staff. Casual bistro eating, and a more formal dining... More

As a birthday treat I took my wife here for an overnighter on the "Lazy Sunday" offer. I've never had a more relaxing sunday, the staff coiuldn't do enough to help and the place has bucket fulls of character including the open fire and all sorts of little nooks and crannys. The food is first class and I had the... More

My wife and I were travelling from Glasgow to York and I had read about the Rose and Crown on Trip Advisor. Despite the detour, we decided to go there for lunch. Unfortunately in Scotland we don't have too many places like the Rose and Crown. It was a little piece of heaven! Staff greeted us warmly and made us... More

We had our partners meeting at the excellent pub and restaurant, and cant fault it. When you walk in the door and could smell great food, you know your on to a winner! Thatchers cider on tap as well! Pure heaven! More

We called in here last weekend as a treat on our way home from Ripon. As we had been a couple of times before and really enjoyed it, we were quite prepared to wait nearly 2 hours before evening meals were being served. An hour and a half into our wait, two parties arrived with 3 smelly dogs. Apparently it... More

Very relaxing atmosphere, superb food, good wine list and genuinely friendly staff. Bar with big fire is almost enough to prevent visitors getting out to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Not cheap. More

We stayed two nights in February. The room, service and food were excellent. We had a lovely relaxing afternoon with a roaring fire with a good book and good pint. More

The pub was well positioned for good walking and the rooms were fine. We stayed 3 nights on a dinner bed and breakfast basis which meant eating in the expensive option 3 nights. The bar was open for meals but this wasn't offered. We would have much preferred one night "posh" and the other nights in the bar. The wine... More

We had a wonderful Easter weekend at the Rose and Crown - the staff and hospitality were 1st class. We ate in the hotel every evening and the food was excellent with a good choice of wines and beers. The surrounding countryside was great for walking and with lots of places to visit. Hope to return soon! More
