However every time I use the lifts I worry about whether they will make it or not. I often stay here for work reasons due to the cost and also the function rooms and catering are quite good. The staff really do try. Breakfast was a little tired. But coffee was good. Please fix the towelling rail in 338. I... More

I booked this hotel, expecting dated but comfortable accommodation. The rooms are very tired - stained carpet and shower curtains, scuffed walls and furniture etc. For the price, I was fully prepared to accept this. However, I had two significant issues with this hotel and one minor gripe: (1) the sound proofing is non-existent - I could hear people having... More

DO NOT EVER BOOK HERE. The room was ancient.to be honest, .needs to be demolished. Very decieving from the front and road view. The remote to the heater was broken, there was no hot water for the shower, no mini bar at all, construction site next door which wasn't mentioned on booking. The bath was stained yellow and there was... More

Yes, this hotel is from the 1960s and in need of some renovation, but the room was comfortable, the service was good and the breakfast was OK. Overall, I thought it was reasonable value for money. (BTW, US President Johnson stayed in the presidential suite twice in the 1960s).

We found that the value for money was great, especially during easter and the National Folk Festival. A delicious full hot buffet breakfast and free (limited) parking was included as well. They advertise as a 3 * and still had a king bed. Admittedly it is dated but they are renovating. Hope this doesn't affect the price too much. Staff... More

This is a hotel that was obviously upmarket when constructed in the 60's but that was many moons ago and they seem to have done little in the general maintenance since. There were no signs of the 'renovation' coming along in any of the areas open to guests. Rooms were delapidated and in URGENT need of some TLC. We stayed... More

Rex Hotel is a bit overpriced for what you get, the rooms are very outdated, feels like being in an old hospital. The rooms were cllean, the bathroom was very tired and in need of a good dose of domestos! Overall it was just a convenient bed with breakfast included.

We chose Rex as it was one of the few that were available during a particular busy weekend in Canberra. It is being renovated at the moment and perhaps then it will be better but for the moment I would not go there especially for the amount of money we were charged. The bathroom is tiny with no ventilation, it... More

Friendly staff, clean room with cooked breakfast, good rate compared to other nearby accomodation. The hotel is old and currently undergoing some renovation, no noise at night though. Perfectly adequate for an overnight stop in Canberra.

I stayed at the Rex as it had a reasonable rate which included a cooked breakfast. I had booked it well in advance on the internet. All went smoothly during my stay. If you can tolerate dowdy decor, a little peeling lacquer and paint at the edges and expansion work going on next door (they don't work a night) then... More
