This lodge was a gem of a find. We were looking for a good place to stay while birding in the area. Tirimbina offers wonderful accommodations with access to its own private section of the nearby rainforest. Trails are well marked and laid out to access multiple types of habitat. The guided bird walk was quite affordable and led by... More

Stayed here for our first 2 nights in January. Saw more wildlife here than anywhere else in Costa Rica. The food was plentiful & good. The trails into the rainforest were well maintained and exciting to explore on one's own, but you see much more with a guide. I would urge you at least take the chocolate tour. The birdlife... More

Nice guide Micheal, funny and entertaining. The philosophy behind this organisation deserves the price. It's a little too much for the value of the tour.

This was the high point of our trip to this area. My husband was reluctant to go, but we talked him into it. And he had a great time. The guide walks you back into the rainforest to an abandoned cacao plantation. There you sit and watch while you are shown the entire process of making chocolate - the original... More

Family Trip, 1st time Costa Rica (2 kids age 9 and 12) Not 5 Stars, wanted the kids to experience a real rainforest and reserve Right in the rainforest. Crazy noises outside at night. Check in was fast, parking lot was guarded. Only issue we had was no pool and parking lot to the room/lobby was about 200 Meters. We... More

We stayed for 2 nights in the middle of our tour. Our guide (Christian) on the trails was very knowledgeable and patient and we saw a good variety of flora and fauna, the highlights being the wild pigs and White bats. The restaurant was good value for money and lovely to sit eating and watching the humming birds. This is... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. Wonderful hiking in the rainforest on the property, especially in the area past the canopy bridge. We ate all of our meals at the restaurant and the food was very good. Highly recommend the chocolate tour. La Selva biological field station is also nearby and wonderful for seeing the tropical rainforest. Their website is... More

My friend and I stayed at La Tirimbina Jungle Lodge (room 12) for 2 nights. We'd heard bad things about the capital, San Jose, so decided to detour straight to La Virgen. We did the Chocolate Tour, Bat Program, Self-Guided Walks and had a thoroughly amazing time! I wish we'd stayed longer! I've broken down the review into different areas... More

Stayed here 4 nights as a chaperone for a school group. Rooms were clean and comfortable with A/C and ceiling fan. Had a small problem with the safe and they had staff there within 5 minutes to replace it. Other staff were friendly and remembered us daily with the "bartender" waiting for us past his shift to see if we... More

We went with a school group and the experience was perfect. The rooms are clean and air conditioned. Internet access was a plus. Food is not fancy but very delicious and the open air restaurant is peaceful. The many tours make this a great educational experience for all. Guides are very knowledgeable from the day and night hikes to the,... More
