i was in Costa Rica for 6 weeks, stayed in lots of diff places but this was my favourite. Fell in love with the place the minute I walked into it. The rooms are in a lovely garden, beautiful flowers and trees and lots of birds. I stayed for 5 days and loved every minute. My room had a porch... More

We read about Andrea Christina in a tour guide, Mary was excited to stay in a tree house and see a sloth. One night was planned we weren't there 10 minutes booked the tree house and saw the sloth. "we have to stay another night!!" Alex is amazing I found another brother. After breakfast we went white water rafting, Alex's... More

Posada Andrea Cristina, just outside Puerto Viejo, is a little oasis in a sea of fairly ugly properties surrounding it. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, full of plants, flowers, and trees that Alex (the owner) planted himself. This is a home to birds and other animals (a resident sloth, even). Really beautiful. Alex is also super nice and very helpful.... More

I have to say in our 2 weeks and 6 b+b's in April 2012, Alex's place is on the top of the list. You will not find a more friendlier and warm hearted soul then this man. The cabins are very nice , super clean, relaxing, and he makes you feel like home. We are a couple of Canadians ,... More

This was my favorite of all the places we stayed in Costa Rica. The property looks like a jungle complete with sloths and parrots, in the middle of a small town. It's close to several wildlife refuges. The rooms are simple but clean, and spending time in the hammocks outside was heavenly.

This place is unique because of the big heart of Alex Martinez, the man who created it. Alex himself is an attraction. He has dedicated his life to defending the natural environment of the Sarapiquí forest. He is an outstanding naturalist and guide and a very warm host. When we told him that we had failed to see much wildlife... More

I had heard good things about this place for birding, but it is really quite small. The biggest drawback was the noise: a neighborhood full of constantly barking dogs on one side, loud music coming from a bar and/or restaurant on the other, and an on-site flock of guinea hens and some caged parrots that were NOISY. There is no... More

Posada Andrea Cristina is a place that in my book is an example of local sustainable tourism. Owned and operated by a Tico family you get a nice place to sleep, an excellent breakfast, a garden full of birds and sometimes even a sloth, one of the best bird guides in the area (Alex and Kevin), and if you are... Great hospitality in a small jungle setting. Nice big and clean bungalows. Staying in the treehouse is nice but since it is a very ecological treehouse, there are a lot of bugs, it looks like your staying in a real treehouse. When we stayed there, there was some leakage in the treehouse, but the owner was planning to get it... More
