We provided our credit card number to book the hotel and reconfirmed again via phone call right before arrival. The Hotel Berghof was to be our first night in Germany after arrival from the states. After being awake more than 24 hours, we drove four hours to the property anticipating a wonderful stay. However, we found an extremely rude desk manager who had given away our hotel rooms and kept on changing his reason as to why he gave away our reserved room. The hotel was booked, and he could not provide us with a room. We insisted upon him helping us find alternative accomodations, which he did begrudgingly. He made one phone call to nearby accomodations just to get rid of us. We went to the other property to find a small room in the basement with a shared bathroom. Needless to say we were not happy. However, by then it was after 8 PM and a Saturday night with a lot of tourists in town and we just wanted to get some sleep. I have never experienced anything quite like this... more
