We had a very good time in Friedrichshafen. A good part of it is due to the homely service we received at the Hotel Schloßgarten. This hotel is family-run and is located at the end of the main street which follows the Friedrichshafen coast from the Zeppelin Museum to the Schloss itself. It is very central - just a stone's throw away from the Castle and its famous church and from the promenade along Lake Constance. Very comfortable en-suite rooms and a tastefully decorated restaurant where you can have a copious buffet breakfast in the morning which will keep you going till evening - guaranteed! All of this for a price which is a fraction of what the mainstream hotels closer to the train station and the older part of the town charge. The only setback for international travellers is that it would definitely help to know some German, particularly with the very helpful elderly gentleman organising the breakfast.
