Had a fabulous skiing holiday here. I thought that the chalet was in the perfect location in Alpe D'Huez and had great facilities - large boot room with bootwarmers, bar/lounge, snug, separate inning room, indoor and outdoor hottubs, sauna and steam room. Our room had an window at the back of the chalet and so not onto the slopes but... More

Chalet L'escapade has been taken over by Richmond Christian Holidays, so things are different! The staff were like family and could not do enough for us. Food was great, free wine entirely drinkable. The room was larger than we expected, with balcony and view of the piste. Truely ski in and ski out. If you are adventurous there is even... More

I need to start by saying that the Ski World staff made this holiday for us, they were great and it is a shame they have to work in such a dump. The staff really tried to sort out the problems and helped where the could. Ski World needs to take this hotel off their books. I knew from the... More

we had room 10, worth paying the xtra for the room , great balcony overlooking the slopes and great evening views. The staff were really helpful and the hotel/ chalet itself was good, there are some rooms which are smaller than others and some have baths some showers, the rooms are basic but there okay, clean, secure, the food was good, some... First time going for a catered hotel rather than self catering apartment. Got a late deal 10 days before leaving with skiworld, wouldnt pay the full price for it, but was good for us and will definitely be going catered again in the future. We had a large double room - 1 double, 1 single, with balcony and ensuite. Could... More

We were a bit doubtful about booking this hotel due to the bad reviews but actually had a great time and would definitely recommend it. Cons: The hotel was a bit shabby in places, which although was noticeable when we first arrived, didn't bother us at all by the end of the week. Young staff doing their best but sometimes... More

My family and I stayed in the L'Escapade over the New Year week in the 2010/11 season, having booked with Skiworld. The walk from the coach is approx 5 minutes and wasn't a problem even for the children in the group. The hotel is located in the bottom centre of Alpe D'Huez and you will need to ride either the... Worst ski holiday ever. Snow was great - but hotel just terrible. Don't ask for much - just clean accommodation with good plentiful food and adequate facilities. Terribly disappointed. Rooms are described as compact but they are impossibly small with dirty badly fitted sheets (oh yes on both sides), bathrooms very smelly and dirty (though lots of hot water). Truly... More

Dear Sir, My name is Adam Playfair and I work for Richmond World Holidays. In June 2011 we took over the operation of Chalet L'Escapade in Alpe d'Huez, I notice you visited whilst SkiWorld had it and weren't very happy with the hotel during your stay. Under Richmond Holidays, we have changed the way in which the hotel is run... More

My family and I have just returned from Alpes D'Huez, staying at the Chalet Escapade. In contrast to a previous review, we had a wonderful holiday. We have experienced several chalet holidays (several with Skiworld) and all agreed that the food and welcome by the chalet staff were excellent. We booked a chalet holiday because this is what we like... More

PLUSES - Great skiiing, lucky with snow (actually snowed on arrival - first for 3 weeks), great for all standards, very organised large ski areas, highly recommend ESF ski school. Went with Skiworld.com - friendly helpful staff, great location - ski in/out, lovely to have outside jacuzzi hot tub. MINUSES - aside from a general comment about how absurdly expensive... More
