I arrived in Saintes with no bed booked, did a quick tour of the two star hotels in the town centre and this one looked easily the nicest. There was a choice of several grades of room - the cheapest was (unsurprisingly) a bit on the small side but the others were fairly large by French standards. Nice friendly atmosphere. more

While I was on a solo bicycle trip through Charente-Maritime, someone recommended stopping in Saintes and staying at the Hotel des Messageries. great place, clean and attractive decor, good breakfast, helpful friendly staff, and we were able to take advantage of the secure garage parking, and all for a very good price. We will be back. more

We really enjoyed our stay in Saintes and the surrounding area of Saintonge. This hotel was originally a "relais de poste" or postal stop, thus the name Hotel des Messageries. Very quite with good location in centre of city, plenty of places to eat close by. Very helpful staff. Hidden away off the main road so look out for signs or just ask. Good value for money. more
