The Hotel Richelieu is still undergoing a slow renovation. Benoit the host is extremely hospitable and will gladly furnish information. Upon our arrival we where given a choice of rooms. The room we chose was at the back of the hotel as there were roadworks close by which meant all the local traffic was diverted past the front of the...

Benoit, the hotel owner, was really helpful and friendly with excellent English. Good communication, clean room, free wifi. Would definitely use again.

Booked for one night just before Christmas, wanted something as cheap as possible without being hideous and chose this after reading trip advisor reviews. Super nice on the phone and an efficient follow up e-mail. We then spotted a lower price on-line and telephoned and the lower price was honoured no problem. Check in very polite and friendly. As reviews...

Stopped here with friends for an overnight stay and pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely room on top floor. Hotel being renovated but signs clearly indicating this fact; The owner couldn't be more helpful and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning. Secure parking at reasonable price an added bonus. Would recommend for short break

We have stayed here many time over the years and still find this is the ideal place to stay in Calais. The owner is steadily improving the place with the top floor steadily being worked on but the rooms are excellent and price is a true bargain.
We booked on line and found an overnight stay with breakfast for two...

We chose the hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed; the "Toile de Jouy" room was charmingly decorated, spotlessly clean with a perfectly adequate shower room, a comfy bed and a lovely little balcony overlooking the park. The continental breakfast is simple but tasty. We booked online (very efficient communication with the owner) paid 45 euro for the...

We used to stay here in the 1990's before it went down hill. We were encouraged to stay again because of the favourable reviews. We were disappointed. Yes, the owner was friendly, the room was clean and it was cheap for its location. However, it remains scruffy and a hand held shower with no screen/curtain is not my idea of...

Stayed here for a night for a booze/food cruise. Benoit , the proprietor is very welcoming and knowledgeable about good places to eat etc. The rooms are comfortable, beds cosy with extra pillows available. Breakfast was French (bien sur!) with buttery croissants and good bread, good jams, yoghurts etc. The hotel is being renovated by the owner himself and it...

We have stopped over in Calais many times to catch the ferry the next day and this time we decided to give the Hotel Richelieu a go after seeing the good reviews. We were certainly not disappointed. The owner is as charming as the hotel and he has clearly invested a lot of effort into the refurbishment of this small...
